Experience the beauty of one of Aotearoa's favorite regions on New Zealand's premier Sky Waka Gondola.
Starting at the base station, this stunning trip travels 1.8km up to a height of 2020m above sea level, giving you majestic views into the clouds, past waterfalls and ancient lava flows along the way.
On the 12 minute journey, you'll discover the Central Plateau in all its glory from your cabin, each spacious enough to hold a maximum of 10 people.
An absolute must do for international travelers and locals alike, offering a unique way to soak up the stunning beauty of Aotearoa.
The Sky Waka gondola is set to open everyday until April 27th, from 9 am - 4pm. This is subject to weather conditions on the day so please check the report on: www.whakapapa.com/report

Weather was lucky
Great, though not sure why it was a 10am early bird special. That said, would recommend going early as wind picked up. Great winter cable car for a summer head start on higher hikes.

Fantastic. No snow but great to see what's usually underneath the snow. Appreciate the ruggedness and dangers of what lies beneath.

Great gondola experience
Super easy from booking tickets through bookme to collecting our passes at the counter. Gondola ride was amazing with views and breakfast at the top cafe. Walk over to Meads Wall was also worth it.

Whakapapa Gondola / sky waka
Friendly staff that turned on a perfect blue sky and calm day that offred us great views across the landscape. We had a fanastic walk up to the ridgeline (yellow and organge trails), and after our descent we finished off with lunch and a beer at the skyline cafe.
