View at the top is great
Great value for families. We enjoyed our day up on Mt Ruapehu.
We arrived after an hour's drive from our accommodation up into the moody wilderness in the mountains. Only to find a locked building with only a handyman to ask for assistance. There were no signs up to explain the closure, no signage at the entry way back down at the bottom of the mountain, no email advising us that the gondola would be closed, the website said it was open. Very disappointing. Still waiting response regarding a refund... I wish we had some great photos to share, alas...
Enjoy the gondola up to the mount Ruapehu. Nice view and many tracks can do from the base.

Wonderful!
It was beautiful even on New Year's Day when there isn't any snow. The air was still very chilly and lots of fog! We enjoyed eating delicious food at the Knoll Ridge Cafe as well. We'll see you again this winter ❄️
