Excellent

Tour guide was excellent (Hannah). It was very informative and we liked the fact that it is a living village with close family ties to show its authenticity. Would recommend

The place where the tourism industry of NZ started

It was very interesting to visit a living Maori village and see the place where the tourism industry of NZ started. The guide was friendly and happy to answer any questions, the cultural performance was nice, and nature was fantastic. Do not miss to have a steam-cooked corn at the local café and walk the geothermal nature trails.

Not what we were expecting

Michael was our guide He was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information about his village When we were told to book here they told us ( not the people from the living village) we would experience more of the cultural Maori then what we got Maybe we should have asked the people at the living village However a lovely place to visit and like I said Michael was great!!

Kia ora Mischelle, Thank you for sharing your feedback. It is good to hear that you connected well with your guide. Taking our guided tour with one of our guides is the best way to gain valuable insight into our history and way of life. Our guides, most of them are whakapapa back to Whakarewarewa Village, are related to the guides who guided at the Pink and White Terraces. They are knowledgeable, informative, fun and do love sharing stories of the past. We wish you all the best.
