Umber Halai said... We are so happy we went with Footwhistle Cave tours instead of the main Waitomo one. From all the research I had done and reviews I read, the Waitomo tour only showed a few minutes of glow worms in the boat at the end and was so crowded and rushed. This might work for people trying to do several tours of different places (for example Waitomo and Rotorua in one day). In comparison, we felt Footwhistle was much more personal - there were only 6 of us in the group. It is a family owned property and the tour guide Ross was knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. He took the time to show us around and explore, allowing us to take pictures and guiding us through the dark, beautiful caves so we could clearly see thousands of glow worms. Overall it was a great experience and we didn’t feel rushed at all. At the end, we sat and had kawa tea in a little tree hut which was the perfect conclusion to our tour. Thank you Ross at Footwhistle Caves!
