Jana said... Number 1 - do it This was one of our favourite experiences of our entire trip travelling through all of NZ. It is new, beautifully constructed, unique, and definitely gives you a rush. It has it all. It gives you a view you'll never get anywhere else, it has zip lines that are great, it has education from the guides, and it is very good value. Number 2 - it is new It had opened only 6 weeks before we came, so it was fresh and everything is brand new. The equipment is first class, but it is the construction of the bridge line in its entirety that is spectacular. From the wood used, to the design, to the different types of bridges you experience. It is brilliant, and since it is new it is not that busy. We had two guides to ourselves as there was no one else booked for our group - talk about personal service! Number 3 - it is beautiful These trees are massive, and you are in the canape. Sometimes walking with the canopy below your feet. It is simply spectacular as you walk through the atmosphere of the bird life and the trees themselves. My husband is a little afraid of heights, yet he was enjoying the calm of the experience. Number 4 - it is thrilling Walking along suspension bridges looking straight down to the drop below your feet will get the blood rushing. The zip lines add to this as they are pretty long and give you a change of pace from walking along the bridges. At 25 meters high, you feel like you are a lot higher as the trees gently sway and the people walking below look tiny. My husband found it tough to begin with but by 1/3 of the way through, his confidence was rocketing and we both had a ball. Number 5 - it is educational We learnt about the local area, the geologic history of Rotorua, the history of the Redwoods and the unique forest we were walking through, the wildlife and the endangered local species. We learnt about the Altitude walk itself, and the guides themselves. It was stimulating for our minds as well as our pulses. We thought this was great, and the best value experience we did throughout NZ. One suggestion is we would love to see them do a night version of this walk. The lower one does do this and sounds great, but the Altitude at night would be something else.
