Sarah said... All kiwis with a sense of adventure should do this tour at least once in their lives. The guides are friendly, the trip well organised, the food good. You begin abseiling 100m down into the cave, the longest commercial abseil in the world. This is all safe and once you're over the edge the nerves settle. You fuel up on warm drinks and snacks throughout the day. Working your way 2km underground you see great scenery, spiders, glowworms, fossils and eels. The water is fresh but the wet suits soon warm you up after. Theres plenty of rock jumping and climbing throughout and some parts you have to swim in the water. At the end of the day you walk a 1km or so back to the shed through farmland where a hot shower and bbq awaits. Not for the faint-hearted: You do need to be fit for this tour. There are some small gaps to fit through. You will need to be confident in the water.
