Join the experienced team at Fiordland Outdoors for a true kiwi adventure in the remote wilderness of Fiordland National Park.
This tour will take you off the beaten track to experience the real New Zealand outdoors on an intrepid journey made possible by our expert guides.
Departing Te Anau Downs by boat we take the journey across the South Islands biggest lake - Lake Te Anau - to arrive at our first mooring. From here you will be guided through the forest on your way to the hidden lake. This is a short, moderate trek through unspoiled Fiordland bush.
Arriving at the stunning Lake Hankinson, which is only accessible by boat or plane, we board our second boat and head across the glacial lake and further into the wilderness. Our next destination is Hankinson Hut - Fiordland’s oldest backcountry hut built in 1928 and rich in local history.
Stay awhile to soak in the tranquillity of Fiordland National Park with the Wapiti River flowing past enticing keen anglers and appreciate the beauty of this immense ecological system before returning back the way we came.
