Experience the unrivalled beauty and pristine wilderness of Doubtful Sound with an unforgettable Real Journeys day cruise.
Begin your adventure with a cruise across the crystal clear waters of Lake Manapouri to West Arm.
From there a scenic drive over Wilmot Pass, with photo opportunities along the way to view Doubtful Sound glistening below.
Upon arrival at Doubtful Sound, you’ll be welcomed by our crew to board the Sinbad vessel. Take advantage of her viewing decks in good weather, and if the rains set in, feel free to keep wrapped up in the warm – never missing a beat of the view through her large glass windows.
Experience a mesmerizing and enchanting cruise through this fiord with rugged peaks, verdant rainforest and twisting, hidden inlets.
Our nature guides will share their knowledge of this pristine fiord and point out any wildlife we may encounter, including dolphins and fur seals.
Three times longer than Milford Sound, immerse yourself in the sheer beauty and vastness of the isolated Doubtful Sound.
From the moment we checked in at manapouri our day was fantastic. Staff all very friendly and nothing was to much trouble.
Lovely trip, we were very lucky with the weather as it was sunny with some waterfalls left over from the previous nights rain. So yes both boat jounery were beautiful and really enjoyed the bus journey. There was some commentary on both the boats but the only one that was engaging was the bus driver.. he was very good, the others we ok just didnt really capture attention over the engine noises. Overall the day was very long and could be a bit of a challenge to many travelers who maybe come to nz for an active holiday. There was a few passengers taking naps on the boat.. but I guess that's something just to think a out. I thought I needed the day to rest but was more itching to get out. In that sence the shorted Milford cruise may have suited better. Also the free coffee is instant you have to pay for real coffee... snack were reasonably priced on board.
Fantastic experience in the doubtful sound, the real journey crews are all experts and can tell you many stories about the sounds. Loved it and will do it again

Excellent trip
The day went so fast, from the minute you sign in and your on your first ferry then before you know it your coming home again. So much stunning scenery, absolutely everywhere. The bus trip was good, we had a good driver with a good sense of humour. Loved everything on this trip, the Sounds were stunning.... Exactly what we thought we would see. You won't be dissapointed.
