What a way to start your day in the Catlins! Join our small group tour on a leisurely one hour paddle as the sun pops up over the horizon.
Our small group tours visit Nugget Point daily and give you the opportunity to view the remote and rugged Catlins Coast. Along the way you’ll spot wildlife that call this place home; fur seal, sea lion, albatross, cormorant, and penguin. You’ll hear interesting snippets of local history from our guide who grew up in and around these waters.
SHORT TRAIL: Rise and Shine! As the sun goes up the early morning paddle crosses Oil Store Bay; it's here we keep an eye out for some Yellow Eyed Penguin heading out for breaky. We tally up the seals on the nearby rocky shore before returning to the historical launching bay.
Time: Departure time can vary depending on the season. This can be anytime between 5-6:45am. Your confirmation email will give you your exact departure time. Arrival back to our launching bay is anytime between 7-8:45am.
Allow 2 hour total duration, approx. 90 minute paddle time
Do I have to be fit or have kayak abilities? This is a leisurely tour. While the ability to swimming is required, our kayaks are highly stable and suitable for first time paddlers. We use double kayaks so the work load is halved! You do not have to be of a high fitness level take part in the tour.

Under all circumstances the client is solely responsible for their personal equipment.

The rocks of Nugget point is a very spectacular landscape, probably the best place for kayaking in the Catlins! There are a of birds including some albatross and some small blue pinguins and it is nice to see the fur seal colony from the sea. The guide knows everything about the area and about the wildlife.
This review helped me
