Tom Hobbs said... While we really enjoyed our first time at Milford, we couldn't help but feel as though we didn't get the experience we had hoped for from this tour. It was lightly raining for our trip but we are told this happens more often than not so didn't expect it to impact our tour. A more appropriate name would've been the 'Bird Tour' as we started by going to a bird sanctuary in Te Anau. We stopped at least three times to look at ducks in paddocks however did not have one stop to look at the beautiful mountain landscapes or temporary waterfalls. Luckily after going through the tunnel there was a kea at a lookout so our driver stopped - however without the bird being there it was clear we would not be stopping. When we were trying to get photos of the beauty around us we were told to get in the van and close the door so the kea didn't go inside. Because of all the bird stops there were a number of beautiful places we drove by but didn't have time to stop. Noone on the trip was excited by the birds other than the driver and we were all a bit surprised that this tour was not what we had hoped. The boat was fantastic, not overcrowded and took us to all the great spots around the sounds, though this is one that wasn't exclusive to this tour. The food was nice (though we weren't able to warm up with a hot chocolate as not enough were stocked). Some feedback for the company would be to ask passengers what they are hoping to get out of the trip rather than following the drivers interests.
