billw4 said... We arrived at Bluff Terminal at 8:30am, anticipating a 9:00 departure as scheduled. However, at 9:20, new customers were still arriving, and the boat eventually set sail at 9:40am. The following day, upon our return to Bluff, the boat left Stewart Island at 8 am, reaching Bluff by 9 am. This experience highlighted that an immediate departure at 9 am is unfeasible due to the additional time required for unloading and loading luggage, refueling, and cleaning, etc. This raises the question of why we were asked to arrive so early, resulting in unnecessary time wastage.

During the one-hour crossing between Bluff and Stewart Island keep a lookout for wildlife, especially seabirds. Watching mollymawks (albatross) soaring behind the ferry is a fantastic sight.
