Envelope yourself in the magic of Lord of the Rings!

Join the expert guides at Wellington Rover Tours for a half day LOTR extravaganza, bringing together the best locations in Wellington City, remote film locations and amazing visual feast at Weta.

The first part of your day will be an exploration of the city. See the Embassy Theatre where the world premieres of LOTR and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey were held, venture up Mt Victoria to soak up breathtaking views of the city, then on to the Green Belt to walk through the forest and stand right where the LOTR actors did while filming those famous scenes.

Part two of your tour encompasses the best that SPFX has to offer. Visit Wellywood and the Weta Cave, where you will take in the Windows into Workshop exhibition. A guided tour of the prop-making and make up studios and a short film about the digital executions will give you all you need to know about production. You’ll then have time to wander the mini-museum and gift shop before being transported back to the city.

For LOTR enthusiasts with a limited schedule, this is a brilliant way to get the best insights in a short time frame.

    LOTR tour well-spent.

Even though our trip was only for half day, it was all well-spent. Thanks to Chewie (not sure about the spelling) for making it an awesome one. I almost had booked for the Weta Workshop coz I thought this is not included in the tour but I was surprised to know that it was part of the tour including the DVD documentary. Don't hesitate to book this because you will surely enjoy this tour even if you are not a solid LOTR fan.

    Interesting tour for LOTR fans

We were impressed that even though we were the only to people for that time slot they were still happy to run the tour. Steven was a great guide, very pleasant and had plenty of information. Weta cave was very interesting and informative. Would recommend to LOTR/Hobbit fans

    Like in the Movie

I could imagine they shooting the movie in that place, was a really cool experience. Mt Victoria is a plus that even if you don't go to the LOTR tour you should go there. Beautiful view. Weta workshop was amazing not only to LOTR fans but to any enthusiastic of sci-fi movies,

    Great tour

We had limited time in Auckland, so we chose this half day tour. Our guide was funny and knew lots of fun facts about LOTR. We went to some of the shooting locations. And then Weta studios tour was the most memorable for me. We would highly recommend it.
