Sarah said... The park is well loved by its staff and their passion is evident in the way they talk about their animals and the way they communicate with each other. There were several aviaries with nothing in them which left a bit to be desired. The kiwi were fantastic, they certainly put on a show during our visit. However, we have been to many parks all over NZ and there is still much left to be desired. Plenty of potential here but I imagine its difficult to get funding. It needs to be highlighted that in order for people to be inclined to give, interaction and experiences with the animals would open wallets. People are less willing to donate when they dont get the opportunity to appreciate and interact with the animal itself. Eg the beautiful little Kokako in aviary 2 that comes right up close and interacts - we would willingly give to the saving of her kind. However it is still well worth a look, the white kiwi is fantastic and a real wonder.
