Good for mixed abilities

The actual path itself is just a rocky gravel track which wasn’t the most interesting. We were unlucky as it was cloudy so couldn’t see the glacier but obviously this couldn’t be helped. At times therefore it may be a little boring for a more experienced rider (I was told to hold the buckle of the reins like a beginner so was literally just plodding) but we did get two canters in!

Awsome

Very good experience, nice staff and the horses are very calm. Note: this is a very good trip for beginners.

Horse ride at Glacier Country Horses

Simply beautiful, easy and worth going. They were patient and accommodating. Took time to explain the techniques, were calm and reassuring for beginner like me. Beautiful scenery along the way. Pace was good. Overall worth going.

Not worth the money

Nice people and everything. But the ride and the landscape itself is super boring. It is just a gravel road. Unlike other places in NZ where you see a bit more landscape and where they also try to teach you a bit more on the horse than just walking with it. I will not recommend this even with the discount. Better options elsewhere in NZ.

Disappointing

They cancelled our trip at the last minute. Very disappointing considering that this is the only reason we stayed the night in Franz Josph. They have told us that we will get a refund. Nothing as yet though.
