The Okarito Tour combines interesting gold mining history with epic natural wetlands and mountain views.

Your friendly local guide will take you through the old gold mining village of Okarito as well as New Zealand's longest natural wetland and feeding ground to the Kotuku (white heron).

This is a fantastic spot for bird watching home to royal spoonbills and 74 other species of birds including seabirds like the eastern bar-tailed godwit, pied stilts and oystercatchers.

Check out the mini-museum in a converted the old wharf shed in the village and learn all about this area's fascinating heritage.

Experience the gorgeous 360-degree views of New Zealand's highest mountains, Mount Cook and Mount Tasman as well as impressive views of the Franz Josef Glacier and the Okarito Lagoon.
