    Parking: We offer parking for large buses and oversized vehicles. There are two free public car parking facilities to the north and south of the centre.

    Is the experience wheelchair accessible? We have three accessible car parks onsite, All paparoa experience spaces are wheelchair-friendly and we provide accessible bathroom facilities.

    The Experience hub: Throughout the experience, various digital light displays may be sensitive for guests with sensory processing sensitivity (SPS). We have designated areas where you can sit down if you feel overstimulated. Please reach out to our staff for assistance.

    Food and Drink: There is an on-site eatery for refreshments, Food and beverages are not allowed inside the experience

    Can I take photos? Visitors can take photos in and around the punangairi visitors centre and paparoa experience spaces, the shop, please note that tripods and video recordings are not allowed in the experience exhibits.

    Commercial filming and photography: All commercial photography and filming, including media organisations, is only permitted by prior arrangement.

  • Cancellation Policy - Customers will receive a full refund or credit with 24 hours notice of cancellation. Customers will also receive a full refund or credit in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Contact us by phone to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows will be charged the full price. This is in addition to Bookme's T's & C's

Excellent and memorable exhibition

I would thoroughly recommend this interactive exhibition which looks at how the pancake rocks were formed, the fauna and flora, the cave system and the residents who are working hard to look after different aspects of the area such as kiwis, petrol, and crafts. There are many interactive elements which mean that you are drawn into the information, it isn’t easy to describe but after passing through the different rooms you feel afterwards that you have a much better understanding of the area and the people who live there.

Excellent - so much fascinating information

Comprising a mix of video, interactive exhibits, listening booths, information panels and beautifully presented on-screen displays this exhibition takes you through Māori legends of the West Coast, the flora and fauna of Paparoa, the waters of the area, the creation of the pancake stacks of rock along the coast and the karst limestone landscape inland and the sealife of the local marine reserve. Welcome hosts who explain the exhibition introduce you to your self-guided tour. I would leave at least an hour to enjoy all the details.
