Learning to surf at the beautiful Tauranga Bay on the wild West Coast of the South Island is a memory you will cherish forever!
Mark the owner of West Coast Surf is a long time and very passionate coach, he loves to see his students succeed and to share his wealth of knowledge with you.
A learn to surf session with West Coast Surf includes the surfboard and wetsuit hire and 2 hours of coaching. It will set you up for some further learning on your travels and help you to develop great technique and skills.
All you need to bring along is a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, warm clothes for afterward and a big smile. Encourage your family and friends to join you for this fun and invigorating activity in nature at its best!

If you’re in the area you absolutely have to take a lesson here. Second to none and I wish I spent more time here so I could go back!

Surf lesson
Excellent teaching by Mark for my teenager. She had a great time and learnt heaps. Eas able to stand up and surf many waves. Warm wetsuits, good surfboards.

Brilliant surfing experience
We had such a great experience doing our surf lesson. Mark gave us a great overview before heading into the water. He was so helpful in a fun way and let us just give it a shot in the water! Loved his positive mindset and thinking!

Excellent
Really good concise lesson. I was told a range of things about the board, safety and how to stand and turn. We then went out and I was able to stand first try and could turn. Highly recommended. I feel competent enough to go out and develop my skills solo
