fhayes said... We had a great day for our heli-hike. There were only 3 of us on the tour (this is quite uncommon), so we had the glacier to ourselves. Prior to Covid there were hundreds of tourists per day on the glacier, all the more reason to travel to NZ and to do this amazing tour! Our guide, Pasan, was really easy to talk to and very knowledgeable. We were lucky with the weather and got the full 3 hours of hiking time. Quickly changing weather conditions can effect the trip to maintain the safety of everyone but the refund policy is very reasonable. The heli hike is great bang for your buck, we got to see everything by helicopter going to and from the airport and landed on the glacier. The tour consisted of hiking around on the glacier, going into crevices, holes and navigating through tunnels. There were plenty of photo opportunities along the way. It was an amazing day and although pricey, it is worth every dollar. The way I see it, hiking on a glacier is an experience that I will probably only do a few times, so I wanted to make the most of it. We also had no issues booking in advance through bookme.co.nz and saved about $100 per person
