Safety was paramount at Helicopter Line, which led to our experience being cancelled on the day we had booked it due to low cloud. Thankfully we were staying in the area overnight and they rebooked us in for the next morning and this time we were lucky. Our guide was very enthusiastic and helpful, making sure that our group got the opportunity to try scaling some more adventurous parts of the glacier. The pace was comfortable with plenty of opportunity to take photos and gaze in awe at the beauty of our surroundings. The experience lasted for half a day which we felt was good value for money. The helicopter ride to the glacier itself is very brief during this experience, a matter of minutes each way. The tour was much more about getting to see the glacier up close - people who want a longer helicopter flight may be better off choosing one of the scenic flights available instead. However, we were grateful to have the chance to visit the glacier whilst it is still large enough, who knows how many more years this opportunity will be there?
