Immerse yourself in a tropical butterfly house and Travel back in time when dinosaurs ruled and visit the Dinosaur Kingdom with over 40 dinosaurs, some even life-sized, roaring and moving, you'll be amazed! See mermaids, unicorns and dragons come alive in our newest exhibit: Mythic Creatures.

Visit Kiwi Forest and see NZ Brown Kiwi, Wetapunga and other native species, plus meet Scar and Goldie, NZ's only saltwater crocodiles. We have alligators, bugs, and a beautiful bird aviary. You can visit Buttermilk Farm for a hands-on experience. Sit down for some home-made food at the Butterfly Creek Cafe, or relax while your children play in the free playground or ride The Admiral Express Train.

We want to assure you that you will have a fun and safe visit and have implemented a range of measures to keep you safe. Our exhibit & movement spaces are spread over a large area of around 18,000 square meters, with around 1 km of pathways. You are not confined to large numbers of other visitors - everyone is spread out over the park to ensure safe social distancing.

Highlights include:

Dinosaur Kingdom - The first of its kind in the New Zealand with real life moving dinosaurs, some up to 23 metres in length.
Mythic Creatures - see the world’s most fantastical legends come to life, Dragons, Unicorns, Serpents, Aliens, Mermaids, Jack & the Beanstalk and more amazing creatures.
NZ's only Saltwater Crocodiles - Meet Scar and Goldie in their awesome enclosure for a close-up view of these impressive beasts.
Kiwi Forest & Friends - Meet our two brown kiwi Awa & Māhina in their nocturnal kiwi house, plus see cute otters and hundreds of squirmy eels.
Butterfly House - Walk amongst tropical butterflies, some will even land on you. Plus see turtles, quails, finches, a blue tongue lizard.
Buttermilk Farm - This highly interactive farmyard is a great way to get up close and feed your favourite farmyard animals such as baby rabbits, guinea pigs, Angora and mixed breed goats, alpacas and pigs.
Bugs - Meet some of the largest insects in the world such as the mighty Wetapunga and the awesome Tarantula.
Aquarium - New Zealand's largest tropical fresh-water aquaria and NZ's largest marine coral aquaria - both teeming with a wide variety of fascinating fish.
Reptiles - Get up close to fascinating reptiles including the American Alligator, Blue Tongue Lizard, Long Necked Turtle and the Frilled Dragon!
The Butterfly Creek Café also offers a wide range of tasty homemade food and don't forget to ride The Admiral Express train or play in the fun outdoor playground.

Please Note: Child Age is 3-15 years old. Children aged 2 years old and under are free.
You must arrive on the specified time of your booking.
Family passes are priced as if purchased individually, discounts are shown from this rate.
Opening Hours:
Term Time Weekdays :
Open Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays from 9.30am to 4.00pm (last entry 3.00pm)
Weekends, Public Holidays & School Holidays hours:
Open from 9.30am to 5.00pm (last entry 4.00pm) on weekends (Saturday and Sundays).
Open 7 days a week during school holidays.
Open all public holidays except for Christmas and Boxing Day when we are closed.
Important information:
Deals do not include the train ride - this is an additional $3.50.
Deals are only valid for the date and time selected and cannot be changed.
Please be on time for your booking and have your Bookme ticket ready on arrival.
Discounted tickets are only valid for admission at the specified times. We will allow a 30 minute leeway period on either side of the allocated time otherwise you will be required to pay the difference up to full price.
Refund Policy:
No refunds within 24 hours of visiting unless Butterfly Creek cancels the activity due to waterway, road or weather conditions. Otherwise, refunds are granted solely at the discretion of Butterfly Creek & may incur a 5% admin fee.
General Terms & Conditions:
Butterfly Creek (including respective employees, agents, officers and directors) exclude, to the fullest extent possible under law, all and any liability for any loss, damage or injury (whether direct or indirect or consequential, however arising) suffered by the Guest or any person associated with the Guest in relation to the booked activity. All activities have elements of risk and all guests undertaking any Activity do so voluntarily and at their own risk. To the extent permitted by applicable laws, all warranties, representations and implied terms are also excluded.
Butterfly Creek reserves all rights to cancel any Activity at its discretion for (but not limited to) any of the following reasons: a) waterway, road or weather conditions; b) lack of numbers participating in the Activity; c) unsuitability of Guest(s) due to reasons such as intoxication or any other reasons rendering a Guest unsuitable or unfit to participate in the Activity; d) any other circumstances which are beyond the reasonable control of Butterfly Creek. All Guests agree to adhere to any instructions in relation to the Activity from Butterfly Creek at all times. These terms are subject to rights and remedies you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 2003.

Dissatisfied

I could not make this experience due to work circumstances I emailed them and they said I should just call on the day I could come. When I did that the front desk were rude. Will never go back due to the lack of empathy. I saved for this booking has a solo mom and due to work they were not understanding I just lost my money and a day outing for my kids
