Widely recognised as New Zealand’s most ‘notorious’ street, this neighbourhood has a long and fascinating history. Artists and creatives have always felt at home here amongst the more colourful characters of Auckland.

The walk will start at the Symonds Street Cemetery where we will discover the resting places of several very influential New Zealanders.

Public art is a key feature of this precinct - sculpture and street art beautify the laneways and alleyways that branch off the main strip. We’ll discover works by many of New Zealand’s leading street artists as we walk and talk.

After a quick coffee stop, we’ll head to the cutting-edge contemporary galleries on K’Rd to be challenged and inspired.

The tour ends towards the Ponsonby Road end of K’Rd where you are free to enjoy lunch at one of the many eateries in the area and continue exploring on your own.

Interesting and informative

Jacqui was a great guide. Friendly, approachable and knowledgeable, she was able to engage the group and share interesting information about street art and other places of interest that on a normal walk, could be passed by unnoticed. Definitely a good way to learn a bit more about the city, even for those who live there.
