Standing proud on Vulcan Lane since 1870, The Occidental Hotel became The Occidental Belgian Beer Cafe in 1999 and has been serving up delicious French quality food in robust German portions ever since.

If you can get past the plates of steamed or grilled mussels with a mouth-watering range of sauces and flavours. The menu also includes light meals and salads including their house-smoked salmon and a range of mains including chicken vol au vent, Mac n Cheese, Lamb shank and traditional Beef Flemish stew. They also serve a variety of delicious vegetarian and seafood dishes.

Wonderful Genuine Old Hostelery

Lovely service, excellent food. Just the beer is overpriced. And the atmosphere is great, so few places like this anymore.

Very Delightful

The chips were the best we have had from any other restaurant. They were to die for! The meals were all very good, the lamb shank meal probably needed a bit more time to cook to really make it fall off the bone but overall was fantastic. Would definitely go back!
