Waitomo & Rotorua Full Day Tour With Skyline Gondola Ex Auckland Return

Join us for an incredible journey deep into the heart of the North Island, experiencing New Zealand’s incredible natural scenery and Māori culture.

This full day tour aboard our deluxe coach will take you to the magnificent geothermal regions of Waitomo and Rotorua for a truly remarkable day out.

During the scenic drive south from Auckland you will journey through New Zealand’s largest farming region, past towns steeped in early pioneering history.

On arrival at Waitomo, you’ll enjoy a 45-minute tour of the famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves. See these amazing limestone caves with their stalagmites and stalactites, and drift in a boat through the amazing Glowworm Grotto as you gaze at the thousands of glowworms above you.

After your Waitomo Caves tour, continue south to Rotorua. Located inside the rim of a volcano crater, Rotorua is home to a vast array of geothermal activity and is the cultural melting pot of New Zealand. See some of its historic landmarks like the Government Gardens, the iconic Tudor-style museum and the Blue Baths on your way through town.

Next, take in the spectacular panoramic views of Lake Rotorua with a trip on the Skyline Gondola. Drink in the views over the city and Lake Rotorua as the gondola carries you 487 metres above sea level up the side of Mt Ngongotaha.

At Te Puia, New Zealand’s foremost cultural venue, you’ll be welcomed into the marae (Māori meeting house) for a traditional Māori concert with song, dance and the fearsome haka (war dance).

Inside the Māori Arts & Crafts Institute, you'll see artists at work creating traditional wood carvings and weaving. The Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley is home to the famous Pohutu geyser, as well as fumaroles, and boiling mud pools.

At the end of your Te Puia experience, step back on board for the return coach journey to Auckland.

Comprehensive trip for the north in one day

Waitomo & Rotorua Full Day Tour With Skyline Gondola is suitable for doing many things in one day. I have seen Maori cultural show, Kiwi bird, geyser, glow worms and top view of Rotorua from Skyline Gondola. The driver and guide is great. He described many things about New Zealand along the way. The food was delicious. One lunch and two break snack are provided. If you like doing fun activities, you have enough time at Skyline Gondola station. But if you like to stay relax, I would recommend you to choose Waitomo & Rotorua Full Day Tour With Polynesian Spa.

    First experience in NZ

I was lucky to get a discount ticket from Bookme and I truly enjoyed the whole trip. The driver for my trip seem to know so much about all the places and the history. He talked throughout the entire trip. Seeing Te Puia, the mud pools and Pohutu Geyser was amazing. Learning about Maori culture and being in the Skyline Gondola were first experiences for me. The beautiful sceneries along the way is fantastic and there is time for a stop at Hamilton to use the restroom or pick up something to eat.I was lucky enough to also see the Waitomo Glowworm Caves in just one trip.

    It can be better

I would love to begin with the visit to Glowworm Cave. I'm disappointed to the fact that i can't take pictures or video (even without flash or sounds) and not even at the entrance of the cave which is still away from the glowworm habitat. it would be nice to mentioned this on flyers. Second is the gondola, the moment i reached the Gondola area i had less than 1 hour to spend. Which left me with just little things to do, track for nature walk is restricted. Third, we did not stop at government garden - so visit to the Tudor style museum and blue bath never happened (when this is one of the reason why i took this package). But i enjoy the Maori concert, driver & commentator is nice.

    Fabulous Tour and Driver

Our tour driver was Rob and he was just fabulous! Very informative, spoke very clearly and was a super safe driver. Waitomo Caves were magical, Gondola was fun and racing down the luge was lots of fun. The show at Te Puea was a great cultural experience and seeing the geysers and bubbling mud was just grand. Even saw 2 kiwis in the kiwi house there. The bus is comfortable and warm. Even better, the food served is delicious - cafe style chicken wrap, carrot cake, apple and juice for lunch and a chicken croissant and cookies for snack on the way home. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting a "sample" of Rotorua and Waitomo.
