Susan said... What a great way to get out and about and see the real Auckland, and not just what the tour companies want you to see. The half day tour was a perfect way to spend a port day. Mike gave clear instructions on where to find him just a 5 minute walk from the ship and we were back in plenty of time to fit in some shopping before having to board again. Mike was a terrific guide - very knowledgeable about the area, and the geographcial history of the city and the volancoes we visited. On top of that he was genuinely interested in interacting with his passengers. It was so nice not simply listening to a scripted commentary from a bus driver. We got to see and walk along and inside five volcanoes, and get a real feel for the WOW factor of how this area has developed over thousands of years, and understand the unpredictability of what might happen at any time in the future. Definitely value for money and worth getting off the beaten track, away from bus trips... can highly recommend.
