Quite easy to get there. We preferred not to use SkyBus because it's too expensive ($18 per person) if you go from CBD by bus. We took a bus to Onehunga Train Station ($3.10 per person) and from there the bus No.380 ($1.80). All the trip took one and a half hour.
In short: we spent a very nice time. Butterfly Creek isn't a big park but this is more than enough to spend a few wonderful hours in there. Butterfly Creek staff were very friendly. Food in Butterfly Creek Cafe was, surprisingly, in a great many varieties and the prices were reasonable. We would definitely recommend Butterfly Creek to visit, especially, with kids.
