It consisted of only two prawns, two samosas, two nuggets, and two onion rings, with the majority of the platter being fries/wedges. The Salt and Pepper Calamari was not genuine calamari, lacked flavour, and was below an acceptable standard. Salts Big Breakfast had literally just 4 baked beans hidden under the eggs.
The Surf and Turf steak was requested rare but arrived well done. The accompanying mussels were unacceptable — only two were served, one of which was an empty shell, while the other still contained mussel waste. We also ordered two Kiwi Beef Burgers; unfortunately, the patties were raw and cold on the inside.
After raising our concerns, the manager eventually agreed — after significant discussion — not to charge us for the Kiwi Burgers and the Pier Platter. Given the number and severity of the issues, this felt like the minimum response rather than a genuine effort to resolve the situation. The overall service remained poor, and the manager was dismissive rather than receptive to feedback.
Additionally, there was a noticeable and unpleasant pungent smell in the first-floor dining area.
Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, and we would not recommend this venue.
