Dunedin is the second largest city in the South Island, and known as the Edinburgh of the south due to the large number of Scottish Immigrants who settled there. The city has a compact hub, built around the Octagon. Enjoy the bars and restaurants that line the street, and then ytake a short stroll to some of the main attractions the city has to offer, such as the World famous Taieri Gorge Railway that departs from the historic railway station, or Cadbury World, in the historic Cadbury chocolate factory. Other options for your visit include exploring the Otago Peninsula, nesting ground for the Royal albatross, and the location of New Zealand's most famous castle: Larnach Castle.

An excellent guided tour led by a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. The house and gardens are magnificent and would only be improved by the addition of a small cafe in the basement or gardens.
Our tour was amazing. House is truly a gem. In the middle of Dunedin and our tour was informative and gave us a real look at the family and life back then. My 11 year old found this really interesting. Great job those of you who keep this history for us to enjoy.
I was lucky enough to get a one-on-one tour of this grand, historic house as it was low tourist season. The tour guide was wonderful with a vast knowledge of the history and the details and was able to answer all my questions. I have been to old historic houses in the UK, Europe and Australia but for some reason this resonated with me the most. Maybe it was the sheer beauty of the decor and furnishings and the fact that there were artifacts from all over the world. Thank you for keeping this place open to the public. This is definitely a must-visit site if visiting Dunedin!
Our tour guide and reception ladies were so nice they helped us leant a lot with the history of Olveston Historic Home. Thanks team :)
This was my third visit. I learn something new each time,
Incredible I loved all of it
On the third day in Dunedin, I visited Olveston Historic Home which is close to the city centre. I arrived 30 minutes early before the tour began. The gardens are beautiful with plenty of flowers, and is open to the public. It is not allowed to film inside house but is ok to take photos. Olveston Historic Home is a massive house which is beautifully and respectfully maintained and managed. I was impressed to see many antiques collections and amazing paintings. The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable, and made this tour enjoyable. It was also fascinating to know the history of the home, and stories of the Theomin Family, Recommend you include it on your visit to Dunedin.
It's stunning place and well guided. Im not from English speaking country but the tour guide speak very clearly to be easy to understand.
As Dunedin locals we were shocked that we hadn’t visited Olveston earlier! The tour was very informative even though the house speaks for itself. It was a joy to behold this landmark Dunedin beauty!! Will be coming back again for sure.
I really enjoyed doing the tasting.Cheese platter was great.would of preferred pickled onions to pickles but hey.still a enjoyable evening.if your a scotch buff then give this a go while in Dunedin.
Many people think there is not much to see in dunedin, but this tour showed me the opposite. It has beautiful buildings, amazing beaches and nature. Licy showed me everything what I wanted to see here and more I expect. I saw seelions and seals in front of me on the beautiful beaches. Lucy is a great guid ! I had an great tour and the time flight over.
Excellent tour, Lucy took us by private vehicle to all over Dunedin including Tunnel beach! The vehicle was very luxurious leather seats, sun roof & automatic side door! The scenery around Dunedin is spectacular & this tour shows you the real highlights!!
Great tour - loved all the Dunedin highlights. Lucy was a great tour guide and we enjoyed every minute.
The food was very nice and the staff was very helpful
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Very good value for money and would definitely recommend it. Sorry for upside down pic
I am glad that I have booked a dinner at the Terrace restaurant. The service was perfect and the shrimps cooked on a hot stone were delicious!
Food was beautiful, staff were lovely and super quick thank you we will be back 😀👍👍
Was a very nice meal and worth the money.just wish it included coffee
Lovely place to dine in especially with a banquet meal voucher via bookme, food was more than enough (2 course meal for 2 persons), serving size was quite fair (mains regularly cost around $27-32). Madam Woo met if not exceeded all our expectations (ambience, food and staff) although price is somewhat a expensive so the voucher is definitely a good deal!
Great kids had a fantastic time lots of free chocies just wish we em could have seen the staff working so the kids could see! Thankyou
This was a birthday treat for my daughter. She enjoyed it the leader was very good in telling us what and how chocolate was made but you weren't able to see any of the working of the factory. It would be good idea to put some windows in to be able to see what's goes on. I can understand that they cant have us walking around in the factory itself but to see into he kitchen or where they make the jaffa's would be good. Thanks Cadbury for all the wonderful years of making chocolate in Dunedin. We will miss you 😘
Tq cadbury world. Tq Lucas-our tour guide there. Good services and hospitality. Sure will come again. Recomended to all 😀
Fun tour. The tour does not take you into any production areas of the factory, but does give visitors an interactive lesson on how Cadbury's chocolate is made.
Our group was 16-60 years old and all had a great time! No manufacturing info but lots of history and fun facts about chocolate.
The tour was very interesting, Graham our tour guide was so funny and made the tour a humorous one. The tasting at the end was awesome followed by shopping at the end being served by Jason who is a top bloke!
Great to hear the history of Speights. The tour guide was fantastic, she certainly knew her stuff. The tasting afterwards was a highlight. We got to pour our own beers.
I enjoyed this tour. The guide was a bundle of knowledge, regarding the history of this site and the importance of this brewery to the country. There are 225 stairs, most of which are negotiated on the down.A tutorial on how the beer is made, was given as we moved through the tour. Ending in a free sampling of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. This tour is quite expensive, but not to be missed.
If a couple of beer samples at the end of your other brewery tour was the highlight then ger set for a whole new level. A lesson in history a vibrant and enlightening guide . This is a fantastic opportunity to see history forged with modern Technology. The beer is great too!!!
