The Speight’s Brewery Tour is a must do for locals and visitors to Dunedin alike!
We are the oldest operational Brewery in New Zealand, and the only site to have an historic Brew Floor and state of the art Brewery housed within the same location. The Speight’s Brewery is the spiritual home of New Zealand’s biggest beer brand, attracting over 20,000 visitors per year to experience the “Pride of the South”; as one if Dunedin’s most popular tourist attractions.
During your tour you will learn about the history of the Brewery, touch, smell and taste their way through our Heritage building before finishing up in the Tasting Room for a Beer Tasting. The Brewery Shop has an extensive collection of Speight’s merchandise and the Cellar Door offers the ability to purchase fresh beer directly from the Brewery - a unique opportunity to take away a flavoursome souvenir.
The Speight's Brewery is a heritage site, please take into consideration that we have 200 stairs included in the tour route. We recommend a moderate level of fitness for this experience.

Tour of the brewery
Very good your with plenty of good information about the brewery. Very well present tour and beer tasting at the end

Very cool experience
Beer brewing and history turned so much fun by our tour guide Thomas. Highlight of the day was of course the last stop which is the tasting session!

Informative Tour Guide
My wife and I found the tour guide (Tomas) very knowledgable. Great to hear the history of Speights. We would recommend this to anyone wanting to experience the history of New Zealnd beer brewing and ofcourse the tasting of the beers that Speights produce. James Speights was an interseing person and the driving force behind the success of the Speights Company.

An Informative and Enjoyable Brewery Tour
Everything about this tour was absolutely fantastic. Our guide, Thomas, was incredibly kind and welcoming, and he took the time to answer all of our questions in great detail. The tour began with an introduction to the history of Speight’s, followed by a walk through the brewery where we were able to see both the old brewing equipment and the machines still in use today. The exhibits were very visually clear and easy to understand, and the scale and power of the machinery were truly impressive. We also learned about the different types of hops and malts and how they vary, and it was especially interesting to be able to actually taste those differences during the final tasting session. I’m extremely grateful to Thomas for providing such a wonderful tour. Thank you so much for an unforgettable experience!
