This is recommended to all that have not been on this trip before. Skipper was lovely. A lot of people due to the cruise ship docked at the time. Me and hubby thoroughly enjoyed it.

I was on a cruise with Kate, Alex and Bri. The girls were great at spotting wildlife, especially the dolphins that everyone is hoping to see! The cruise was a well run and professional experience that takes you around the harbour and the skipper will tell you a bit about the history of different areas of Akaroa as you go past. We stopped by a area known to have some NZ fur seals. The dolphins came to bow ride at the front of our boat. We were also lucky enough to spot a new calf!

Absolutely stunning morning out on the water, very informative captain, we learnt loads! And saw everything we came to see.

Awesome tour

I booked this trip at the last minute and so glad we did. Even though it was a cold and somewhat windy day we thoroughly enjoyed this cruise. The scenery is beautiful and we saw lots of Hectors dolphins, and some NZ fur seals. The staff were very informative and friendly,and i would happily do this trip again when next we visit Akaroa.

We had a wonderful two plus hours with Ollie the skipper and dad John the very knowledgable tour guide. Besides a lot of information on the wild life we saw John also told us a lot of the history of Akaroa and the harbour. It was a lovely day and we went well out to sea. With maximum eight passengers it’s an experience that you feel part of all the time. There were four passengers on our trip and it was great.

Our day was beautiful! The people friendly and the little elusive dolphins ? made an appearance well worth it.

Small group of 8 people + 2 hosts. We were lucky to see so many dolphins and swam with them in two different spots. At a point, we were surrounded by 5 (of course they come and go as they please). We even saw a baby dolphin with its mom. We also navigated to other areas and saw seals and birds, plus having a complementary hot beverage and a snack. They were kind enough to accept my request of having some gluten free cookies for me :). It was great, I think the small group made a huge difference, as we had enough time to swim and enjoy without many people around. Only 4 of us decided to swim that day. I totally recommend it. Gracias!

Had a lovely time on this trip, a birthday treat. Very relaxed and informative on the history of the area. Bit disappointing that we only saw 1 dolphin as they are always a treat to see but that's nature, can't be helped. Saw wee penguin and the fur seals. Definitely worth doing, even for us locals.

Absolutely an awesome experience. The weather was perfect and i learnt a lot about the area. We saw a number of Hector dolphins that swam around the boat several times and that certainly made the trip for my grandson. Dont miss it if you are in the area.

We did the 11am trip and definitely recommend it. Staff were really friendly and the guide had a great sense of humour. Weather was perfect aswell. Only advice is if you take young children like we did grab a spot for the trip at the beginning, as soon as dolphins were spotted people didn't care if they were pushing our children out the way.

We were both blown away with the harbour cruise. The weather was stunning which makes a difference. The crew commentary was very amusing and informative. We were lucky to see a number of little Hectors, seals and pups and NZ Shags. We would thoroughly recommend the trip . Great value for money too. Thanks Guys!

What a wonderful experience, great stories and history. The Hector dolphins riding the bow of the sailing boat to classical musical was a real treat.

Coast up close is a local business and Tony and Mafi is very friendly persons and this is our best experience in our whole Akaroa visits and we really recommend the firm for dolphin encounters and they are very friendly and patient and showed around and the trip was amazing. We will visit them again in future. Thanks Team

What an amazing morning it was! Blue skies and blue water! The first thing we encountered when we left the bay was a mother dolphin and her calf. As we went out of the harbour we came across some noisy seals that came right up to the boat. But what really stood out was the hospitality from the skipper and his local knowledge.

It was such an amazing experience and Tony was so good in explaining things. He made sure we are having fun and he is so so good. We got to see dolphins, seals, Shags, etc I have only videos of dolphin, but I have shared some good photos I took. I was more focusing on videos ? We really enjoyed and thanks Tony for the amazing experience. ?

The staff were super helpful as soon as I arrived I got my tickets, the staff aboard were also great. Very clear and informative commentary and we got to see a wide variety of wildlife including dolphins, penguins, seals, and even an albatross. I would highly recommend this to anybody visiting Akaroa I would gladly go again!

Very accommodating staff, my husband and I enjoyed the cruise.

This was a great family experience. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. We had great co-operation from the dolphins who played round the boat for ages and the captain was happy to wait and let us watch in awe rather than rushing onto the next part. Worth doing while in Akaroa if you have a couple of hours.

Did the morning session and probably each and every single Hector dolphin in the harbour. Did not disappoint. We were in the water and had a few different pods around. All equipment provided was super high quality!! Thanks again
