Absolutely fabulous staff . 200% for helping my 89 year old dad onto the sand and on and off the boat. Saw ray and fish on choppy day - lovely views. Thanks Kip and all the others for a fab trip.
Kayaks were heaps of fun. Gorgeous spot for kayaking. Didn't see a heap of fish due to conditions, but highly recommend either way.
Good food, service and ambience
We shared 5 dishes and all were lovely
We had tasty plates to share, squid, pork tacos and the new country pizza. Although the plates looked small, they actually are very filling and we didn't finish everything. The must have--rhubarb tonic for the cocktails is also a pretty pink drink one will surely enjoy. Thumbs up for Smiths!
We really enjoyed our visit. The whole place was beautifully presented. The sculptures were an interesting mix. The quotes made interesting reading. The day we visited was drizzly and overcast but it didn't take anything away from the experience. Even my teens had a good day and they are hard to please.
The sculptureum is set in beautiful grounds with averies & rabbits also. The sculptures are well set out & plaques to explain the sculptures. There are also 2 restaurants on site
Highly recommended! Very peaceful place and healing place, balancing all senses. The art collection, the nature, the staff …everything is in a harmony Thank you for sharing your treasure with us
A lovely day out to look at art and sculptures. Have a bite to eat in between, and finish with a glass of wine.
We hadn’t visited this place for a while but it didn’t disappoint. It has been well maintained. Meandering around the pretty paths on a summers day with magnificent lifelike sculptures appearing and finishing with a coffee on the shady deck made for a perfect day.
Had a wonderful time here. Could possibly get a bit more signage on where to buy tickets or the entrance is. Some stunning artworks. A lovely walk to experience different points of view. Inspirational quotes. Loved the snails. Great for old and young.
A little something for everyone...had a lovely day up here...nice after all the rain we have had
Well worth a visit for extensive selection of sculptures inside and outside. Friendly staff and great facilities.
A huge thank u to the owners and staff of this magnificent art collection. Impressive!
We visited with our 2 kids (3 and 7) and we all thoroughly enjoyed exploring every part of these stunning gardens and galleries. It rained for our whole visit but was not a worry at all as they supplied us with umbrellas so don't let the rain stop you from visiting this beautiful spot.
Very impressed, the grounds are beautifully kept and there’s some amazing art!
Amazing! Loved it!!! Went for the sculptures and art and was very impressed. So refreshing to have fun pieces displayed in a fabulous setting. Very original and much needed alternative cultural experience for New Zealand. Book me made this more affordable for us. Cheers 👍
Awesome
This was one of my favourite day experience, it’s brilliantly done. I only wish we’d had more time so that we could have eaten lunch too There something for everyone
What an absolute hidden gem! Stunning grounds, winery and restaurant as well as the sculpture gardens which were amazing and full of so much colour and beautiful pieces large and small. Everything was to a high standard! We thoroughly enjoyed our time and spent quite a few hours there. Highly recommend!
Beautiful and surprisingly well-maintained place. You can clearly see the effort put in place for visitors to have a great day out. The indoor galleries house many colourful and interesting artworks, which even my 8 year old enjoyed observing and reading about. It was a cloudy day, so I’d imagine some of the outdoor artworks looking more brilliant on a sunny day, but it’s a compromise I’m happy to make for a comfortable and leisurely stroll. We ordered Freddie’s feast for lunch, all good and yummy. The Watermelon and Cucumber cider is refreshing too. We stayed much longer than we’d expected. Recommend for sure. :)
A wonderful eclectic collection of sculptures abd art both indoors and out. Wonderful gardens and settings.
At first I wasn't sure whether it would be worth the entrance fee, but from the moment we walked in we were blown away. The art is fun, vibrant and so very well presented and in such a unique way. Its the way art should be. Fun! As we walked through it continued to be equally as great all the way to the end. We brought my mum for her 65th birthday and had 2 kids, 1 and 4 with us. Everyone had a great time. Finished off at freddies with a delicious gelato bowl. The art collection is incredible and we will be recommending it to everyone!
Nice
The Sculptureum is a really cool place to visit, the full price had put me off a bit but bookme's price was great. There are heaps of things to look at, it takes a while to work around. Us adults enjoyed it as much as our 2 year old.
I love this place and arts. We wanna go and see more and more , thanks. Excellence , lovely.
This was our 3rd visit and still enjoyed every moment wandering around the beautifully designed and landscaped grounds scattered with sculptures from many different artists. After a quick drinks break in the restaurant, Rothko, we continued our journey through the galleries where even more wonderment can be found to enjoy. This is a day out where you really don’t want to rush! We will be back!!
Definitely enjoy this family trip. Wonderful art pieces both indoor and outdoor. Highly recommend.
Great n peaceful...gud family outing
First time visitor and will definitely be visiting this place again. Super exceded all expectations. The sculptures, some quite funny. The walk around the gardens is so tranquil.
Pleasantly surprised by what was hidden behind the road front hedges. Beautiful care taken of gardens, walkways and layout. Little display corners ticked away to discover. Next time will check out lawn bar & restaurant!
Lots to see and interesting discussions with the kids on how art is interpreted. Kids haa sax be asked to go again
We had a great time. Something for everyone. Lovely friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere.
literally.... Normally, the prices I found were too steep. Happy to have seen this offer on Bookme. It was worth the visit. They had different areas to try and explore. We didn't eat at their restaurant though; although it looked like they had quite a good spread on offer, we had in our company littlies with very limited palettes. If you visit from quite a distance away, make sure to set aside at least half a day for the sights. Better yet, a day or two to best explore what Matakana has to offer. Be prepared for lots of walking. They also do offer a "scavenger hunt" for the kids to enjoy.
This place is fabulous, the gardens are blissful in the shade and the sculptures throughout really pop. The gardeners do a wonderful job here. The art galleries are FULL with so much engaging art, it's really enjoyable, and is updated - great photo opportunities, and lots of hidden gems. The only thing I don't love is the aviaries - I'd love to see either much bigger aviaries for the birds (an open aviary would be even better), or no birds in the aviaries. However, the place is really well worth it!
