As two people who don’t drink much beer we absolutely loved this tour and recommend it to anyone and everyone. The tour itself was very informative and interesting and the tour guide was amazing! The tasters at the end were great and we got a great explanation about what we were actually tasting.

So accommodating and very nice and helpful staff!! The kids had a great time and so worth the money 🙂

Girls had an amazing time, thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I'm actually considering joining them as members to take advantage of the Sunday members night deal. Definitely recommended
An excellent guided tour led by a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. The house and gardens are magnificent and would only be improved by the addition of a small cafe in the basement or gardens.

Very informative tour. Well maintained mansion. Over a hundred years ago this house had conveniences well ahead of its time. Owners made excellent use of their resouces to experience a quality lifestyle then donated everything to the city of Dunedin. Regretted that we left our rental car at hotel as it was an uphill walk.

Fantastic historical ornament. Great the lady of the house gifted it to Dunedin.

Incredible I loved all of it
It's stunning place and well guided. Im not from English speaking country but the tour guide speak very clearly to be easy to understand.

Beautiful historic home. The guided tour guide was informative and happy to answer questions. The home is a time capsule of the era. Plenty of time to inspect and admire all the pieces in the home. You walk up a staircase to view the next level. The gardens and the old car was a highlight as well. Plenty of parking when we were there.
On the third day in Dunedin, I visited Olveston Historic Home which is close to the city centre. I arrived 30 minutes early before the tour began. The gardens are beautiful with plenty of flowers, and is open to the public. It is not allowed to film inside house but is ok to take photos. Olveston Historic Home is a massive house which is beautifully and respectfully maintained and managed. I was impressed to see many antiques collections and amazing paintings. The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable, and made this tour enjoyable. It was also fascinating to know the history of the home, and stories of the Theomin Family, Recommend you include it on your visit to Dunedin.

This was my third visit. I learn something new each time,

I was lucky enough to get a one-on-one tour of this grand, historic house as it was low tourist season. The tour guide was wonderful with a vast knowledge of the history and the details and was able to answer all my questions. I have been to old historic houses in the UK, Europe and Australia but for some reason this resonated with me the most. Maybe it was the sheer beauty of the decor and furnishings and the fact that there were artifacts from all over the world. Thank you for keeping this place open to the public. This is definitely a must-visit site if visiting Dunedin!

Our tour guide and reception ladies were so nice they helped us leant a lot with the history of Olveston Historic Home. Thanks team :)

The tour is informative and our guide is very friendly. Highly recommended.

Our tour was amazing. House is truly a gem. In the middle of Dunedin and our tour was informative and gave us a real look at the family and life back then. My 11 year old found this really interesting. Great job those of you who keep this history for us to enjoy.

So we’ll kept and stunning home! A must see.

As Dunedin locals we were shocked that we hadn’t visited Olveston earlier! The tour was very informative even though the house speaks for itself. It was a joy to behold this landmark Dunedin beauty!! Will be coming back again for sure.

We thoroughly enjoyed this activity. The history and restoration or rather ongoing restoration is truly incredible. The gardens are spectacular!! The view from the tower is a must see.
A big thanks to the owners for preserving this part of Dunedin history for public. It's a good place to visit at any season.

Worth the visit a lovely 200 year old castle. Amazing how it was built and the history. Lovely gardens liked the idea of staying onsite have to try that next time. Some areas still to be renovated.

Had a great visit here on a sunny autumn day the whole experience from gardens castle and tea in the outside cafe area was great. We thoroughly enjoyed are time there all the staff were hospitable and friendly.

Highly recommended lovely gardens beautiful scenery the castle is amazing they are doing a great job of preserving it

Very cool place. The view from the tower is amazing. Would have been an interesting place to live in.

Nice overcast still day, moody and a nice day to have day 1 in Dunedin exploring Lanarch Castle. Lovely grounds, such a talented castle built, been so looked after and a good history lesson learnt. A few steps walked today.

Seamless check in with Bookme, the Larnach Castle team already had my name at the gate. The castle is so beautiful, it is clear this is a labour of love for the family that is restoring it! We last visited 16 years ago on our honeymoon, and since then they have opened more rooms for exploring in the castle, and added a clue hunt for kids to keep them engaged and learning about the history of the castle. We spent half our day here and a couple of hours exploring Tunnel Beach which is a 20min drive away - a perfect day!

Stunning castle and grounds. Jaw dropping views and fascinating story and history of the Lanarch family and the restoration over the last 50 years

Lovely to see the only castle of New Zealand. Fantastic grounds with beautiful surroundings. Friendly staff good facility to give visitors a good understanding of the castle and history. Thank you very much Larnach Castle team:)

Really nie views but rainning for the whole day. That is really a shame without watching the gardens inside

We were the first to arrive as we had limited time and given a warm welcome, clear directions, then enjoyed informative displays and a video, before rambling through the castle. The views over the peninsula from the tower were beautiful, made more special because we had walked and driven over that area in preceding days. A coffee in the ballroom beside the open fireplace, prepared us for a quick ramble in the garden and our car trip back north.

While traveling the south island, this has to be kne of my highlights! If you have any appreciation for history or castles or just want to see something truly beautiful then this is it. Well worth the money I would absolutely visit again!!

The family who own the only Castle in New Zealand have really preserved it to the correct period in history. Just amazing and beautiful architecture! It was raining at the time of our visit and probably would of enjoyed the grounds better if it were sunny.

									great

Loved it!! Amazed at a home (castle) so beautiful was built so long ago here in NZ. The history was also very interesting. Definitely recommend.

Being from England I was a little skeptical going to visit a "castle" in New Zealand. However I'm so glad I did! It's a lovely place which has been really well restored and lovingly looked after. The climb to the top of the turrets is fun and the views once at the top across the Otago Peninsula are stunning. The cafe in the ballroom is lovely, whether sitting inside or outside, and the food was good too (we had a small salad, some chips and a scone with jam and cream, all of which were yummy! I can imagine the high tea here would be very nice.) The gardens were beautiful and it was very pleasant wandering around them. We walked past the stables which have now been converted to accommodations and I would seriously consider coming back to stay for a night. The staff were all very friendly too. Would definitely recommend a visit here :-)
