We chose Mitre Peak because they use smaller boats and we wanted a more intimate experience. It was the right choice for that reason and so many others..
The smaller boat had plenty of room to sit and move around, plus the crew were able to talk with everyone and share neat info and stories. I don't know if you'd get that on one of the big cattle boats.
We selected the last cruise of the day and had the Sound to ourselves which was magical. But it was the crew that it all work. Super friendly people who made you feel welcome. It was almost like going for a cruise with old friends.
I would book with Mitre Peak again in a second.
