Jason Fitzgerald said... We booked this dinner as part of our tour, we were not expecting such a rich cultural experience. Our driver "Dennis the menace" picked us up from the welcome center where we were handed instructions on how to behave during the welcome ceremony. Dennis then selected a chief from our group (he picked me) and the chief was welcomed by the Maori tribe and their chief. After the initial greetings, each group went to a specific part of the village where we were shown a different aspect of the Maori culture. After we were done, we saw a performance were the tribe sang and danced and delivered several performances including the Haka. The final part of this experience was the traditional Maori dinner (hangi) which was delicious. This is definitely an experience that you don't want to miss if you visit Rotorua.
