Itinerary
- Auckland - Departing from Auckland, your guide will point out places of interest as your adventure begins.
- Waikato - Enjoy the sights of the beautiful countryside as we head past farms, rivers and impressive mountains on the way to Matamata.
- Hobbiton Movie Set - Explore the famous 12-acre set where The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies were filmed. A Hobbiton guide will take you around to see the hobbit holes, shires rest, lush gardens and to top it all off The Green Dragon Inn where you will enjoy a complimentary drink.
- Tirau - The unique iron sculptures in the 'Corrugated Iron Capital of the World' never fail to amuse and your guide will show you all the highlights!
- Te Puia Geothermal Park - A geothermal and Māori cultural experience awaits you here, with a guided tour including Pōhutu Geyser, Māori Architecture, The National Māori Arts School and Kiwi Conservation centre. Optional extras of a show and lunch are available.
- Rotorua City Highlights - Next up we take you on a guided driving tour of the best sights in Rotorua city including Lake Rotorua, Government Gardens, Rotorua Museum, Whangapippiro (Rachel Spring) and the famous Blue Baths.
- Auckland - All good things must come to an end but your day is not quite over yet with a fully guided return trip to Auckland including secret stops along the way!

Great experience
I had a great day on this tour. The guide, Lance, was very kind, funny, and accommodating in dropping us off at different places in the city at the end of the tour. Hobbiton was fun and the scenery driving to and from it was breathtaking - so many beautiful green hills and farms. Te Puia was interesting and felt authentic to the Maori culture because it is run by representatives from the community. The money from ticket sales goes towards the Maori crafts institutes (located at Te Puia) dedicated to training future generations of craft makers. The geyser and mud pools at Te Puia were very cool to see too. I would take a Cheeky Kiwi tour again, though you could probably save money by renting a car or taking a bus to these locations yourself. However, it was great to have the tour guide's commentary as we drove from place to place.
