Great flight with Ben, flying over the mountains. He's warm and personable, has been flying with his dad since a kid, and knows the mountains like the back of his hand. The view of the mountains from the sky cannot be compared with anything else. It's gobsmacking! So glad we did this!
Really nice introduction to jade carving ! We started with a little explanations of the différences between the names green stone and jade, then we got to pick our stone and the shape we wanted to make (only the outline with this time : not enough time to carve the inside), and de got carving ! Really nice time, really happy with what I was able to make !
Tony is just amazing, he is extremely friendly, helpful and great at what he does. You will have a great time. My husband and I had just the greatest time it was more than we ever expected. This was a great experience and you shouldn't miss this opportunity.
Wonderful staff, amazing facility in the heart of Hokitika. Excellent value for money, our family loved it.
Dispite the weather well worth it
We were lucky to have a Keefe t day weather wise but even in less than the ideal day it would still be a great thing to do. Once we stopped zig-zagging the river it was awesome. Stable kayaks so always felt safe with my 12 year old. Beautiful and peaceful! Lovely owners! Highly recommend!
Unsere erste Kayak Erfahrung und es war Top! Sehr freundlich und Hilfsbereit. Wir waren allein auf dem Fluss und die Stimmung war genial!
A welcome addition to interesting and enjoyable things to do on the West Coast. Terrain like this is not that common in NZ so being able to get up close to it in a boat is great. Birdwatchers especially will gain from it. A highly recommended alternative to charging around in a jet boat (although that's fun too).
I enjoyed a wonderful afteroon on this boat tour. The landscape was breathtaking (especially in the weather). It was unique to other tours have done in the past. It might not be, the longes trip you take, but its just right. Experience some rain forest by boat and hear some of the local storys about the area.
It was a last minute booking and we did not expect much. However the whole experience surpassed our expectation. We saw the rare white heron more than 5 times. We had the whole creek to ourselves and it was tranquil. Bird life was abundant and the water was calm. It was an enjoyable experience and we will definitely recommend it to our friends who alos enjoy water activities. Note: This is unguided so you need to be confident rowing (changing directions, going straight and stopping), orienting in wetlands and swim. Gavin came down to check if we could do all that and gave us clear instructions.
Such a peaceful and enjoyable tour of the waterway up to Lake Mahinapua. Gavin was fun and so knowledgeable about local wildlife and the area. Lots of stories and laughs. A great way to see another aspect of this very different region. We did the sunset tour but sure it would be good at any time just for the access and stories.
We were very nicely welcome by Gavin and Max. The ride was great in this superb scenery even with our 2 young kids.
I tried kayak first time. First it's quite hard to ride But if you can get to use it it's really nice I would like to do again
We loved it! Our first booking had to be cancelled because we were the only bookings that they had, but we didn't mind and decided to do the sunset cruise instead, we were so glad we did as the scenery is stunning and was totally worth the wait. Make sure you dress up warm because it is cold out there even when the sun was out.
I would defenitely recommend this trip! A beautiful, peacefup place to spend your afternoon. The people are really nice :)
Lovely reception service! Amazing view from the tower. Nice easy walk which can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Challenges your fear of heights too if you're up for a challenge.
Great afternoon excursion. We both enjoyed the walkway and amazing views. Interesting info along the way and good, home baking in the cafe afterwards.
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Beautiful outlook. Not too hard to achieve. Even climbed the Tower - brave me
Great visit even while raining and as the rain was clearing. The views of the trees and lake were magical and the mist from the rain made you feel like you were in a different place. Highly recommended
It is really a different experience being up high in the canopy. It is well set up. The cafe was jice! Lots of carparking and wondeful entrance. Great views over the lake and we learnt alot about the different plants. Don't rush it! Its to be done leisurely, taking it all in.
Great family friendly experience. The hill up wasn't too steep to push the stroller up and it was very easy to walk around on the platforms/bridges.
Beautiful views, lots to see. Fantastic construction, we were impressed with this. Great informative map along with stops with placards of information. Lovely cafe along with gift shop.
Humans can hardly walk along the tree tops except here 😊 It was pretty cool and unique 🤗 the cafe staff were very friendly.
Awesome opportunity to see the forest from a unique perspective. As a tree nerd and lover of all things growing I was in heaven. Informative pamphlets and signage. Not for those that are squeamish about heights! Cafe food was delicious and reasonably priced.
We were lucky to strike the coast on a beautiful summers day without a drop of rain. The tree top walk was amazing! I enjoyed the little information stops. I'll definitely be back on a rainy day as I can already tell the scenery with be more spectacular then! Such an amazing experience. Loved it.
I wasn't too sure what to expect. The Canopy walk is very cleverly structured and although I have a fear of heights, I managed it alright. Going to the top of the spiral staircase was scary but worth it when you get to the top.
A really great experience. A mean feat of engineering, enabling a chance to see NZ flora and faunat from a different perspective. Self guided map was really great and the views from the "Hokitika Tower" is worth the 107 steps. With a complimentary buggy to drive you up and back to/from the steel platform if needed plus a cafe and gift shop, definitely worth a visit.
This is a must do ! The information they give you about the trees and birds is great ! I do believe maybe during summer it’s more fun when the trees are blooming but the experience was great anyway !
Great being a tourist in our own country ... we had the Westcoast Treetop Walk all to ourselves first thing this morning. Good to see quite a few people arriving as we were on our way out - a great experience... and as Darryl Kerrigan says "So much serenity".
A unique and memorable opportunity for gazing at an established forest. Panoramic views, a blend of vibrant greens with excellent information opportunities along the elevated walk makes this a must-do activity in Hokitika.
A great way to kill a few hours if you are heading north or south on the West Coast. You are getting out behind the wheel and recharging your batteries, Then having a nice coffee before heading back on the road I never give anyone 5 stars because if they get to many they may take their eye of the ball and their service may drop
Although we arrived early we were allowed to go straight in and enjoy the walk, it was raining so we could not enjoy it to the full , on a good day views would be great .
Beautiful serene walk We went at 9.30am was lovely & quiet
The tour is just great, what a pity it’s a cloudy day when we were there.
A must do on your bucket list. It’s supposed to take 45 min, we took 90 mins. We didn’t want to leave. Slow down take your time, enjoy the sounds and amazing views
This was a perfect wee walk for our family. Being so close to the coastline it offered a different aspect to our weekend break which we thoroughly enjoyed. The 'lookout tower' was awesome ,but very much not for the feint hearted!Recommend this to all travellers visiting this part of the west coast
Very cool experience that I am so glad i took the time to do! Went first thing in the morning and it was so peaceful with just the birds and my friends for company. Amazing views that were up there amongst the best we have seen on the west coast.
