I definitely recommend doing this trip, there isn't many things to do in Picton but this should be 1 on your bucket list. If you've ever wondered about those little houses while on the ferry then this should curb your thoughts :) My 7yo got a little bored during it though, we did see 1 pod of dolphins and briefly a seal, that disappeared quick. I think without those 2 visuals, it would have been dire. We also stopped at Furneaux lodge which is awesome. I found the information on the trip informative.
Fantastic walk with beautiful scenery. Great boat trip over with an informative and friendly captain. Would recommend to anyone with a reasonable level of fitness, as it was a 11.5 km tramp.
I would definitely recommend this one to everyone. It was something unique that I have never done before, bonus point for spotting the dolphins 🐬.
Thank you so much for giving us such a lovely day. Excellent boat with an excellent driver guide showing us the beautiful queen Charlotte sounds. Saw lots of areas of the sounds and the time went so fast. Great to see people as they came out to collect their mail or goods and see each beautiful bay of which there were many. Didn’t feel like 4 hours. Recommend this tour highly.
This is a great relaxed way to see Queen Charlotte Sound. The captain’s commentary was interesting.
Captain Jef and guide Tanja made our trip very interesting because of their knowledge of the environment we were looking for birds and seals and dolphins!!
It was an amazing experience, wonderfull trip and really enthusiasm and great guides. We saw a lot from wild life. We trongly recommend.
Stunning views from both sides with simply breath taking scenery! Steep at places but an enjoyable walk! Punga Cove is a great spot to end!
It was a beautiful 8h walk. We just made it in time. We had about 3 stops, also went up to the eatwell lookout which was the highlight of the track. We only met people who went the other way. In our opinion walking from torea bay to punga cove is much better. We are just 2 girls with an average fitness level - so it is possible to make it in time - but don’t take too many breaks.
If you are near Havelock in the north of the South Island of New Zealand, make sure you take a trip on the Pelorus Mail Boat. You will have a memorable and very enjoyable day.
Well organised cruise out to the sounds. Comfortable boat seating and layout. Very informative history at stops on the way. So many dolphins to watch Staff helpful and skipper certainly knows where to spot the dolphins. Enjoyable 3 hours
Was amazing trip Really worth it. Sat up top all the way to get the perfect view. Was a little cold but what do you expect being out in the ocean A must do trip when in Picton Well done Cheers Kate n Jim N Misty
