This was the best decision we made on our Honeymoon! Maddy at the desk was an absolute gem to coordinate with. We signed up for the Friday and had cancellations due to the weather and not meeting the min required number of passengers on the tour over the next two days. Maddy was polite, helpful and could see that we were willing to make anything work just to have the experience in a Helicopter. She emailed the next day saying we were in luck with other passengers signing up and would fly the next day! That morning was perfect blue skies and Heli Tours went above and beyond by upgrading us to the longer Milford Sounds Extended Tour just so that we could get up there. We will never forget this experience and it was hands down the absolute highlight of our Honeymoon. Thank you to Maddy and our pilot for the most incredible day that we will remember for the rest of our lives!! Highly recommend supporting this local enterprise.
I went there with my husband, they are awesome, very friendly, complimentary tea and coffee arrangements onboard. We loved our trip.
What any amazing trip on Milford sound. Excellent staff and great vessel. Milford Sound at its best plus pod of dolphins followed us all the way back up the sound.
Love love loved this cruise! It’s not something that we would normally do but glad we made the travel. The captain was well informed of our surrounding and the history of the locations. Saw some penguins and seals which was amazing! 10/10 would do again and the team are super friendly! Thanks for making our break away from our busy jobs that much better mitre peak cruises!
Perfect flight with very experienced friendly and knowledgeable pilot. I couldn’t fault him even though he is an Ozzie.
The internal looks like lounge/cafe setting, very modern style. You can order fosh&chip, coffee etc on the boat. The boat has 3 floors you can choose to go outside. Bottom floor goes to the head of the cruize Mid floor: entry to the deck Upper floor: entry to the upper deck Lots of room and lots of great scenery along the way! Stood on the upper deck and took ton of beautiful photos.
I really enjoyed the viewing deck, it had plenty of space and was able to sip some great beers while enjoying the commentary and views. Food was great and service was excellent.
The cruise was really nice, having a fine day to enjoy it. My kids enjoyed watching the dolphins swimming around and the breathtaking views. The lunch was ok, could have been better. Overall, awesome cruise?
Although the view of the mountains was bad because of the rain, we got to see much more waterfalls. Wherever you looked there were waterfalls. Amazing. The size of this particular boat was smaller than you might expect, which was perfect. Not too many people (around 50). It was a very comfortable cruise, nice soft seats, coffee and thea as much as you like, easy to walk around, big windows and enough place outside to take your pictures. Also nice that it stopped about 3 times almost under a fall.
Southern discovers are always great, we booked via Bookme and got a good deal. The drive in the instructions says to allow 5.5 hours but it only took us about 4 hours from Queenstown with a couple short stops. The trip itself was cool, we got to go under a waterfall and the commentary was good. Only thing I can fault is that they didn’t try the seating off after the previous trip so we had to ask for them to dry a seat off. Make sure to take fly spray as the info centre sells it’s for $20. This isn’t anything to do with southern discoveries though and no bugs on the boat itself. Just in the car park. And keep in mind parking is $10 per hour or if you pay on the machine in the terminal it’s $30 for overnight parking. We did not see this until in the terminal. Make sure to take warm clothes and something dry for after if you like to sit outside. Will be back again :)
Mark at VIP was an amazing driver and tour guide. Mark took us to a lot of different stops on the way there and back that we would never have done if we had driven ourselves. Mark had an extensive knowledge about Te Anau and Milford Sound and was always approachable. The cruise was amazing and we loved seeing a beautiful part of New Zealand we had not explored before.
Absolutely lovely scenery to see on this cruise! Had the perfect day for it and saw lots of seals!
Must do if you in Milford Sound
Well informed staff, friendly and helpful .the boat is small so it gets you closer to waterfalls and the seal rock.tea and coffee is free .There is not more you could ask for , we had a fantastic time.
First impressions that last... greeted at the service counter with a great smile with full explanation about the cruise, the fish & chips served onboard was yummy and the explanation given by the crews onboard was informative
Rain couldn’t stop us from visiting Milford, so we’ve seen lots of waterfalls as a bonus. Mitre Peak crew made our experience unforgettable- small boat, insightful stories and delicious coffee. Thanks guys
All crews are professional and friendly. Small ship is the best for travel to Milford Sound!
Staffs are very friendly and they do great services. We have lots of experiences when they explain lots of things in detail. We were very enjoying to get closer to the falls. So great. The feeling which we never forget. Thanks so much for everything.
Incredible experience.gtreat service.i would recommend this cruise for everyone.
It was a great time at milford, they have taken us to all attractions on milford sound as it mentioned on their website. We fully enjoyed going with go orange cruise.
It was really nice and would like to go again
Such an amazing experience. Staff are friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
Felt very privileged to have the opportunity to experience this. Fantastic weather with spectacular scenery. True South pilot Jason was informative friendly and accommodating.beautiful spot to visit in NZ
Loved our cruise, great views and boat tour the staff were friendly and gave good commentary of the area along the way
Will Milford sound makes me feel awe since I have seen the grandeur of fiord in Norway? Before the trip, I was wondering if it is worth the distance to visit. Now I can say it is a different experience and it is all worthwhile. Thanks to the dolphin and fur seals!
We couldn’t have had a better experience in Milford. I love the size of the boat small and intimate as I don’t like big crowds, friendly and knowledgeable crew. We will definitely be back!
It was an amazing experience (the weather also behaved). We took the 11.10am tour and were amazed by the sights. What made it even more enjoyable was "Kiwi" history commentary by one of the maori guides. Being a Kiwi myself, I definitely appreciated it. Chinese commentaries were heard from other cruises.
Best trip I've done in nz in 7 years! Great job guys!
The way the entire experience was planned was amazing. Every small details were covered and it was not rushed. Really enjoyed the peace and nature
Such a beautiful and amazing experience and we were lucky enough to see some dolphins too.
Good Experience
Great cruise nice boat and crew
Awesome experience. We went super close to waterfalls and even saw dolphins. Recommend going just after it has rained. Great company to go with too!
Long day but really enjoyed the experience. Bus driver was good and everything ran on time. Natural beauty was amazing.
Our driver Ngalie was such a friendly lady. My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our day trip to Milford Sound and stoked at the cheap prices we paid. Thanks for a great tour!
Milford Sound is a geographical marvel with amazing, jaw-dropping sights. Well worth a visit. Mitre Peaks makes the whole experience even better. The boat was small enough to accommodate better up-close experiences, and the skipper was friendly and enthusiastic. He cheekily brought us all the way into one of the waterfalls and skillfully maneuvered the boat 360° near a rock with fur seals on it, so everybody gets a great view! Definitely recommending this for anybody visiting New Zealand’s South Island
Beautiful weather the day we did the cruise, we saw dolphins (a tick off my bucket list), and seals. Knowledgeable guide. Overall an awesome must-do experience!
Brad was ana amazing tour guide and driver, felt safe and we were given very reliable and enlightening information about NZ, queenstown and its people. It was an adventure i will definitely will never forget.
Southern discoveries to Milford was a great company to tour with. From the helpful phone conversation as to where we could be collected to the very informative and a helpful bus driver. The coach was very comfortable and the stops along the way for coffee and points of interest were well spaced and with adequate time allowed to enjoy all. The boat trip on the Sound was great , staff very helpful and the food was delicious.
Although we did not experience the other cruises, the Jucy was a little cheaper and followed the same route as most of the other trip boats so therefore we as good value. The crew were friendly and informative. Only critism would be only tea was free, if you wanted coffee then put your hand in your pocket and the sound system was a bit poorvand tinny...they need some decent speakers.
Had a wonderful time with the Go Orange crew. Very polite and helpful. Good food on board. We drove from Queenstown to Milford, but I would recommend taking the coach service. Highly recommended when in Queenstown. Try and book it post a couple of rainy days, you'll see a lot of waterfalls.
Fantastic experience. Worth every minute of the 5 hr drive from Queenstown.
Awesome
Everything about this day was stunning from start to finish. Our driver Reynold was funny, friendly and informative along the drive from Te Anau to Milford Sound. Not having to do the drive ourselves meant we could both enjoy the incredible scenery and learnt more about the area than we would have done otherwise. Only shame was the bus was meant to have a glass roof and didn’t. The boat tour was once in a lifetime sailing amongst the fjords and spotting seals between the waterfalls. Lots of photo stops along the road as well were appreciated!
