The whole tour is amazing, the day goes so fast and I enjoyed every minute of it. All the people working were really nice and informative. The cruise makes really cool stops that are really fun too.
Well worth doing, amazing unspoilt pristine environment.
Our trip had to be cancelled on arriving to Doubtful Sounds (weather bomb) was informed all the way what was happening we were well looked after. Our guide was amazing and full of local knowledge, he was friendly and accommodating.
Fantastic day. Spacious boat, excellent crew, very informative information along the way, including the bus. Great photo opportunities, stunning views.
Our doubtful sounds cruise with Real Journeys was absolutely breathtaking - beautiful sights landscapes from right left and centre, educational and priceless history. Stunning, picturesque landscapes, forestry, waterfalls. It was romantic and breathtaking. We even came across a penguin, seal and dolphins. Our skipper was brilliant, the tour bus driver made our trip very memorable. I would like to thank the crew for an unforgettable trip - especially Tony and Eddith who helped me pull off a special moment during our trip.
Great experience. Team at Go Orange were awesome!
Such a professional operation. It was a long day, however the scenery and experience was worth it! Started out with a 45min ferry ride across Lake Manapouri. Our captain was very informative about the area and landmarks within the lake. Arrived at New Zealand’s largest (mostly underground) hydro power station. Boarded a bus for about half an hour I’ve rather Wilmot Pass (unsealed road was in great condition). Arrived to jetty and boarded MV Sinbad. Sailed along the main channel of Doubtful sound and into a couple of arms off it. It was prehistoric- nature at its best. Unfortunately we didn’t get to see any wildlife apart from birds on that trip. Boat didn’t go all the way to the sea mouth, but could have been due to inbound weather. The crew on the Sinbad ran a running commentary about the Fiord. Complimentary tea and coffee on both boats. Snacks available at a charge - cash only. We got back to Jetty and repeated the trip in reverse. Long but fabulous day out in nature!
What a fantastic experience in a majestic place! If you're staying in the area for a few days, and would like to avoid the crowded areas, kayaking Doubtful Sound is a must-do. The sound is a serene, mystical environment, filled with quiet and raw untouched beauty. If you are lucky, you might also encounter some wildlife - we saw deer, bottlenose dolphins and a fur seal. A special thanks to our friendly and engaging, but very professional guide Alex! A guide can make or break an experience, and Alex made ours a very memorable one. Not only he kept us safe, but also entertained by happily sharing his knowledge of the local flora, fauna and Maori folklore. He also took really nice photos of us, and did a great job of keeping participants of various skill levels and adventure ambitions well satisfied. In short, Alex cared, and it showed! Thank you!
It was a very nice experience ! The team is always looking after what you need to be sure that you will enjoy your day trip. They are so calm and not stressful at all. They provided everything you need to be sure that you will have a great experience. We were into the wild, surrounded by nature, fjord, and we didn’t have any rain : so lucky ! Thanks for this experience. A must do in a lifetime. We would recommend this to anyone, even if you’ve never done kayaking before :)
The whole day was a wonderful trip, even though it was mid winter, I spent the whole trip up on the top of the boats or out the front, as the scenery was so great, and I wanted to get photos. I had a great weather day, with the sounds water being so smooth that there were reflections (had been forecast for rain). Well worth doing the trip on any day, as rain enhances the waterfalls. I want to go again, and bring my wife.
Stunning trip! Friendly helpful team, highly recommend!
Absolutely fantastic day trip. Note that this trip takes approx 7 hours (we didn’t work this out till the day before haha) the crew were amazing, lovely and chatty and friendly and went out of their way to make this an amazing trip. Absolutely poured down but none the less was still gorgeous!
Amazing trip across the lake, through Fiordland and in the sounds - everything was amazing, scenery stunning and staff amazing - thoroughly recommend this trip to anyone in the area
Stunning place. Fantastic crew. Awesome experience.
But you can rely on RealNZ, a well run operation with knowledgeable friendly staff and top notch gear. Particularly enjoyed Reynold’s commentary over Wilmot Pass, he did so well for his “first day”
What a beautiful piece of paradise loved the cruise bus ride and the commentary from the drivers. A must do if you haven't already
Well worth the cost - this trip is fabulous from when you leave manapouri - where we booked from - till we got back. The scenery is stunning, the drivers are all very confident and safety conscious and full of great knowledge (listen and learn and have a laugh as well). Yummy food and beverages available to purchase and wear layers because it can be cold and can get warm. Totally recommend this trip.
We had stunning weather, very warm and no wind. We encountered a pod of dolphins which was amazing. The time when the engines were cut and we were able to listen to the surroundings touched the soul. Great boat and crew, one of the best laid on tourist attractions I have ever done.
A great value, well organized and lovely day trip Our boat trip across lake Manapouri in the heavy fog to meet up with our bus driver and tour guide Reynold was a very different experience in a fast ,well equipped vessel, skippered by a friendly captain and crew We board our bus and met of tour guide/bus driver/local expert/all round good guy,Reynold Adkins who remained with our group ,the whole day with commentary and information on local history ,sites, and places of interest ,with a special ,appropriate and appreciated humor, who made our day even more enjoyable,. Our well planned and organized day to Doubtful sound is one which will remain a special highlight of our NZ holiday Thank you
Amazing, any problems. You can take a tea or caffe for free and enjoy this unbelievable place from really nice boat/bus. Must to do!
Did the first sailing of the day .. well orgsnised by Realme .. very informative with grest commentary ... great views and photo opportunities. We will be back to appreciate in Winter. A great way to spend 7 hours. A true gem of NZ.
On a picture perfect day, we had the most amazing journey through some of the most incredible landscape and waterways in our beautiful Country. This is a must do trip. The staff epitomises the true meaning of kiwi hospitality. Knowledgeable and friendly and just as amazed as we were when a rare Southern Right whale was spotted in the fiord. Plenty of other wildlife was seen during the day,the boats and coach were all of a high standard and very comfortable. Recommended!!
An unforgettable experience. Incredible scenery - it felt as though we were stepping back in time to a place untouched by people / the outside world. So tranquil and with great commentary & friendly staff.
A full day of New Zealand's beauty.
We were blessed with an amazing day! The hosts were lovely! Our driver, Dan, was hilarious! Really enjoyed our time. Would definitely recommend it!
Durchgehend freundliches Personal. Tony war mit Herz und Seele dabei und bereitet "the best hot chocolate" zu. Kevin war super freundlich. Von allen gute und interessante Erklärungen. Haben über bookme gebucht und alles hat super geklappt...
We had a fantastic day. Our bus driver and boat captain were both very passionate about the Sound and provided lots of interesting commentary. We were lucky enough to see a pod of dolphins and to have calm waters out to the Tasman Sea.
Definitely the best value for money. I’ve been to Milford Sound but Doubtful Sound definitely left me more amazed and astounded. The service, the boat and the experience were amazing. We learned so much about the Fiordland and also had fun and relaxing time. From the Boat transfer, to the bus ride and to the actual cruise itself. You cant fault anything. Shoutout to Courtney and Tom - best guides! Thanks Real NZ! If your thinking to do it, just book it!
Best tour I did in the South Island. Crossing Lake Manapouri was magical - and Doubtful Sound is so peaceful and beautiful
