The trip was memorable with the whole family on board and of course with the amazing staff on board too.
We loved our boat trip. Peter and crew were very welcoming and the commentary was really informative. Loved the views along the way and the carving was very special. Enjoyed the refreshments and got some great photos.
On a perfect day, to sail with David, and his little mate Sam, on a classic sailboat was an unforgettable experience! It was great to set sails, although in light winds, and hear the interesting background to the Maori carvings and Lake Taupo in general. Appreciated the cool drink on offer, and we couldn't wish for a more pleasant afternoon.
Even though the water was a bit rough, the experience was great! Big shout out to the crew, Craig and the Skipper. Got to meet people from different parts of the world which was lovely. Stopped for a swim in this beautiful cozy little spot. So glad we booked ourselves on this 2.5 hour trip. Was definitely worth the money. Memories to take home for sure ??
Considering I dont like water this was a great experience husband loved it for his bday. Skipper was a funny guy so thanku for our experience
We had an awesome time! The weather was perfect—sunny and beautiful, though we didn’t get much wind for sailing. Even so, the experience was still really enjoyable. The day was memorable not just for us adults, but also for our 8-year-old, who had lots of questions for the skipper! Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing, fun day out. We’ll definitely consider it again next time!
Really enjoyed our sail, great value for money. Very relaxing and interesting too Loved being powered by wind or electric - very peaceful and no fumes! We didn’t go on sunset cruise in the end but went the next morning.
Had an amazing sailing trip with Sail Fearless! My 4 boys absolutely enjoyed it with the highlight nor only being the beautiful carvings, but being able to jump off the boat and swim in the beautiful crystal clear waters of Taupõ Moana! Thanks crew, definitely recommending to friends and whanau.
A must do! Sarah was a great guide, full of fun and information. The boat is great, and much much better than the noisy engine options, even on an almost windless day. Carvings are very cool, and we had a beautiful swim. Not to be missed!
Loved the flexibility of the skipper. We had a small, friendly bunch to sail with. That made it easy to move about the boat. The pizza aboard was a lovely touch. Our skipper was highly knowledgeable over the area, nz and so many other things. The swabs and bean bags are a great idea. Fortunate to have a spectacular weather. Shame about no wind. Gladly recommend to others
We had a fantastic experience on the Barbary. The weather was great, the commentary from the skipper was great, we were offered a hot drink and a thermal poncho for if it got cold. The carvings were amazing and well worth the trip to see.
Really good fun and informative. It got a bit rough on the return journey but it was even more exciting. Would definitely recommend. We didn’t get time to jump in but the weather wasn’t on our side anyway.
Highly recommended
Well worth it, great time and epic sunset. Sailing on lake Taupō was just perfect and the cave art was so interesting. It was awesome jumping of the boat into the water and the sunset was the highlight of the cruise
We have done it for the second time and it was great again!
Sailing on the Fearless was an excellent experience. The whole tour took about 2.5 hours and we both motored and sailed (due to prevailing wind). Captain Steve and the crew were excellent and informative guides.
Would 100% recommend this experience to everyone! The boat was well presented and in immaculate condition. The crew were all super friendly, very knowledgeable and just absolutely fantastic 5 starts for the crew! The views on the journey out were stunning and the rock carving itself was spectacular! Free hot drinks on board as well as alcoholic beverages you can buy, even got a freshly baked warm muffin for the journey back to the harbor!
We did the sunset cruise and what an amazing experience it was! David is an experienced skipper and wonderful host. The Moari rock carvings were beautiful and the sunset just gorgeous. Thank you so much for such an unforgettable experience!
Relaxing, professional, friendly. Great morning or afternoon out on the lake!
Had a great time the lake was so calm beautiful sights
A wonderful yacht journey with a fabulous host who kept us all relaxed and smiling. She was informative and the whole experience was an absolute dream! Highly recommended!
This cruiser blew my expectations out of the water. We had a 3 week holiday and did many things. This 3 hour cruise on Kindred Spirit is one of my best memories. ALL of us on the cruise jumped off near the carvings and took a loooong swim in the freezing but beautiful water. Our guide (forgot your name matey - sorry) was excellent and very entertaining.
I think it's our 3rd time now but every time we come to Taupo we never missed cruising with Ernest Kamp wether it's summer or winter Very relaxing trip and great customer service. 100% highly recommended A must do when you are in Taupo. 5 Star!!!!! AAAAA+++++
A stunning experience. We enjoyed the spectacular scenery and found the commentary fascinating.
What a fabulous way to spend time on such a beautiful Lake. The captain, Kerry, was friendly and overflowing with local knowledge. My husband and I could not recommend this highly enough!!
Cute boat and very pleasant staff. Great value for money with complimentary pizza and a wine or beer. The carvings weren’t what I expected but still worth a look. We were aware you could go for a quick swim or bring well behaved dogs along so bring your togs and dogs! Definitely recommend.
Great time on the boat, swimming close to the maori rock. Very friendly staff, beautiful cruise.
We went on a day that was a bit rough but the crew made us feel very safe. The information they had was amazing and we felt very privileged to take this trip. The boat was amazing making our trip great. Thecarvings were great although trying to get photos on a rough day was a mission. Met some lovely people. Would so recommend.
It’s great moment of lifetime
Beautiful. Lake taupo & staff friendly & good service
Nice relaxing hour on the lake sailing on the comfortable boat. Unlimited tea & coffee was lovely as was the home made freshly cooked muffin! Carvings ok I mean it’s one caving not multiple but good to see in person. Crew all friendly and would certainly recommend this trip!
Thoroughly enjoyed our trip aboard Barbary. Our captain, Jamie, was very entertaining and informative. We had beautiful weather, although the wind was lacking so we motored more than sailed. The kids loved a chance to steer the ship.
This is the best relaxing and enjoyable day out for myself and my family. Info, great staff, great passengers company, great scenery and a swim to refresh yourself after
I went on this tour as an afternoon activity and enjoyed my time. The skipper was funny and open to communicate if you want to but was also happy to just let you relax and have some pizza and a free drink. Considering this and the 2:30h sail the pricing is more than fair. Sadly we didn't have the best sailing weather so we had the supporting engine on most of the time and it was a bit too cold for the swimming stop, which would have probably added to the experience. The rock carvings itself are a good but not spectacular sight, though I was disappointed by their short age (1970s) as I expected something more historical. All in all this trip is really good value for money for anyone interested in sailing Lake Taupo!
We had a very good experience! Beautiful landscapes, friendly captain and amazing weather on the top! I recommend :)
We travelled from Australia in hope of getting to learn the maori culture. And that we did! The cruise out to the maori rocks was a good start in learning about the area and history of the lake. The captain was very thourough in explaining the different parts of the lake and the first colonys on the lake sides and also his description of the maori rocks. I would definately recommend my friends and family to experience the tour on board the Ernest Kemp. Thouroughly enjoyed by myself and family.
