It was a beautiful 8h walk. We just made it in time. We had about 3 stops, also went up to the eatwell lookout which was the highlight of the track. We only met people who went the other way. In our opinion walking from torea bay to punga cove is much better. We are just 2 girls with an average fitness level - so it is possible to make it in time - but don’t take too many breaks.
I had the most incredible time - friendly and helpful staff, knowledgable and respectful captain, and talented photographer to capture these special moments. The dolphins chose us to socialize with! We waited on the boat like an invitation to see if they were interested in playing - once they stuck around the boat, we entered the water and sang our hearts out! Two of them stayed with us - circling us, splashing and looking at us in the eye. Truly magical! I had so much fun I did the afternoon trip (although did not swim). I highly recommend it!
Stunning views from both sides with simply breath taking scenery! Steep at places but an enjoyable walk! Punga Cove is a great spot to end!
Fantastic walk with beautiful scenery. Great boat trip over with an informative and friendly captain. Would recommend to anyone with a reasonable level of fitness, as it was a 11.5 km tramp.
It was an amazing experience, wonderfull trip and really enthusiasm and great guides. We saw a lot from wild life. We trongly recommend.
We had a wonderful day out on the water the boat was fabulous the weather fabulous the commentary was informative and funny would highly recommended this tour
Was amazing trip Really worth it. Sat up top all the way to get the perfect view. Was a little cold but what do you expect being out in the ocean A must do trip when in Picton Well done Cheers Kate n Jim N Misty
I definitely recommend doing this trip, there isn't many things to do in Picton but this should be 1 on your bucket list. If you've ever wondered about those little houses while on the ferry then this should curb your thoughts :) My 7yo got a little bored during it though, we did see 1 pod of dolphins and briefly a seal, that disappeared quick. I think without those 2 visuals, it would have been dire. We also stopped at Furneaux lodge which is awesome. I found the information on the trip informative.
Nice and sunny weather today. Thanks for the professional E-ko team steer us to the Dolpins. We saw numbers of Dolpins swim around the cruise, seems like curious about us and wanna interact with. Also, special thanks for the swimmers group who sing really well and attract some Dolphins approaching towards us. Finally, we end up with a warm choco/coffee prepared by the crew, it's perfect.
Well organised cruise out to the sounds. Comfortable boat seating and layout. Very informative history at stops on the way. So many dolphins to watch Staff helpful and skipper certainly knows where to spot the dolphins. Enjoyable 3 hours
couldn't have been better. seen so much wildlife. couldn't have asked for anymore from the crew. absolutely brilliant day out. I highly recommend this tour to anyone travelling to picton area. we were very lucky to see whales which was the icing on the cake. thanks again
I would definitely recommend this one to everyone. It was something unique that I have never done before, bonus point for spotting the dolphins 🐬.
I really enjoyed the kayak tour in the Sound. The guide was very knowledgeable about the land and sea environment that we were touring. We saw about 8 sting rays, what a treat!
We had an amazing time. Nothing was missing: sun, great team, smooth sea, and obviously the dolphins ?! We were lucky enough to swim 3 short times with a herd of bottlenose dolphins who were in the mood of being social (as they usually travel without stopping). A cup of cocoa and some cookies while watching them slide under the boat was a perfect finish to this unforgettable morning!!
Me and my husband went on the swimming dolphin tour with Shane, Nathan and Paul and it was amazing from start to finish! Such a friendly crew! We saw some little blue penguins swimming, gannets and fluttering shear waters in our cruise. Then we saw a pod of dusky Dolphins!! The team are really good at assessing their behaviour to make sure that they want to interact and will only let you in the water when the dolphins are in a 'social' mood. We got in twice and we swam with 5 or 6 dolphins! 3 of them swimming really slowly by checking us all out; amazing!! We then spent atleast half an hour with a pod of about 15 Hectors Dolphins and a few more Dusky's playing around the boat and going right beneath us!! This was an absolutely amazing time spending this much time with them and interacting with them from the boat! Would absolutely recommend for anyone, especially if you are worried about the impact on the dolphins as these guys put the dolphins first.
Great way to explore hidden bays in Queen Charlotte Sound, we saw three different kinds of dolphins who swam with the boat! Lovely way to spend an afternoon.
Well worth a visit. So interesting to see the original ship!
Amazing experience and really interactive for my children. I was very impressed.
Great to learn history about this high value treasure of NZ heritage Too hard to see a historical ship like this in the world Staff is very friendly too
We arrived with young children in Picton on a rainy afternoon looking for a way to spend the afternoon. Found the Edwin Fox on bookme and decided to give it a go, I must be honest and say it didn’t really interest me but looked like something dry to do! But wow!! We ended up spending over 2 hours there, even past closing time (we didn’t even realise, we weren’t even rushed out!) the ship itself is incredible, so well preserved and facisnatingly done up to get an idea of what it must’ve been like. Great job guys!
We had three children in tow and we thoroughly the whole experience. Great photo opportunities if you like finding the interesting angles, some fun props and cut outs to entertain the kids too. Don't forget to bring some change to make a donation to the upkeep too!
Amazing views, cute doggies, and a friendly Captain. The journey would be worth to try
This deal is definitely worth it! It was a beautiful day and the scenery is stunning! I enjoyed it so much that I want to come back again to do a different route...
Made this tour for the third time and it was just an amazing day out, highly recommended!
We had the most amazing time Julian was fabulous and very knowledgeable. Would do the trip again right now if I could Love love loved!!
A thoroughly enjoyable experience, Ryan's mail run commentary gave a great insight to life in the Sounds for the families that have no road access. Getting alongside a pod of dolphins was the icing on the cake. A wee mishap at one pier delayed the trip slightly but was handled well and professionally. Highly recommended.
Very happy with this purchase. Great cruise through the sounds, with friendly and informative guide Phil. Walk from ships cove to furneaux was fantastic, nice gentle grade the entire way through. Track is mostly in forest but great views here and there. Got to picnic with some weka birds. Says 5.5hrs walking but we were a bit quicker, had time to grab a beer and some snacks at the idyllic furneaux lodge at the end. Would 100% recommend!
Great trip, lovely scenery. Sounds are beautiful
Friendly and knowledgeable hosts. Beautiful views. Comfortable indoor seating with large wide widows but the upstairs outdoor viewing was the place to be. Dolphins, Penguins, weka, just a few of the wildlife spotted, feeding the fish a delightful bonus.
Absolutely loved this cruise. Weather was perfect, which always enhances an experience like this. Steve from BeachComber Cruises was friendly and informative. Amazing scenery, confortable ride. Couldn't fault it.
Great commentary, nice boat with options for both in/outside seating. Friendly staff. Great trip, we did this with our 7yr & 9yr old kids who still had tonnes of energy afterwards. Kids loved jumping off the wharf at Punga cove. Relaxing seating at end of walk. Thanks
Our driver / guide was local and his knowledge and passion for the area was incredible. Super informative went out of his way to show us some dolphins. The check in girls were efficient everything was easy and was a great day out on the water. Make sure you take a jacket. Even though it was a glorious day did get chilly sitting up top
