It was fun, rafting guide and experienced and she was very much familiar with the river. It's a grade-3, not that tough so best for the first timers. Overall, it was fun and the Rafting New Zealand team was awesome. We booked through Bookme.co.nz and got a really good discount on our tickets. Cheers,
I would recommend this to any one, a great half day, me and my partner and 12 year old girl enjoyed it greatly. staff was very friendly and helpful , I would do this again.
It was so sunny, very lucky, and the water was double than usual so the rapids were even better ans bigger waves. Gabe, the guide was really nice and friendly. Hot chocolate and hot dog were very appreciated. Thanks
The crew on the boat were incredible, we received a blueberry muffin which we weren’t expecting and managed to catch a trout. Was a wonderful day on the water and would highly recommend Chris jolly!
The shuttle came on time in the morning and I was picked up at the end of the day when the first shuttle was full at around 3pm. We also got a popsicle which was more than welcome after a hot day. The driver was really nice and the weather was great for hiking. All in all, a perfect day! The only thing I regret is that I didn't think to download some Lord of the Rings soundtrack to listen to while hiking ?
This was such a good shuttle service arriving on time, very comfortable and good information given by the driver. I would highly recommend using this company for this amazing hike.
Very nice driver!
This is by far one of the best experiences in my life. The shuttle was so organised, the driver gave us many tips to be safe and enjoy an incredible day! On our way back they spoiled us with popsicles! I reccomend this company a lot.
I haven't hike that long. I saw some beautiful places that I never imagine to exist... only in movies but they exist. The hardest part was the hail we got half way but that didn't stop me to reach the other side, it was worth it. I really hope to do it again and this time I hope it will be a little be warmer :) Thank you!!!
A beautiful trip around the lake.Enough wind to do some proper sailing and a really informative commentary gave us lots of information about the lake. Really freindly and fun captains!
A great couple of hours cruising out to see the Maori carvings. Free tea and coffee Very pleasant staff A great way to pass a couple of hours Well recommended Value for money
We had a great trip out to see the carvings. Would totally recomend!
Sailing on Barbary to the Maori Rock Carvings was fantastic, although we didn't have the nicest weather, Barbary was a very smooth sail through Lake Taupo to the Maori Rock Carvings. Our captain, Sarah, was a skilled yachtsman who told us about the area and the boat. The Maori Carvings were beautiful to see and a must do if you are in the area. Thank you!
Beautiful day to be out on the lake. Great hosts, friendly staff and a great commentary, enjoyed the hot drink and muffin. It was nice having an option to purchase something from the bar also. Thanks for a lovely afternoon, perfect activity for our girls weekend away.
Me and my fiancé had a great time. The guide Kerry was friendly and really knowledgeable about the area. It was a relaxing and fun evening on the water with wine, food and good company.
Even though the weather was beautiful, the lake was a bit rough for sailing but the skipper and his mate made it enjoyable and we were more impressed with the hospitality. My family and I took the afternoon cruise and we packed a picnic not realising that the trip included pizza and drinks and for what we paid through Bookme.com this was just the icing on the whole trip. Absolutely worth the money and would recommend the experience to anyone who is passing through or staying in Taupo.
Very good experience and staff are so friendly. Will be back again.......
I went on this tour as an afternoon activity and enjoyed my time. The skipper was funny and open to communicate if you want to but was also happy to just let you relax and have some pizza and a free drink. Considering this and the 2:30h sail the pricing is more than fair. Sadly we didn't have the best sailing weather so we had the supporting engine on most of the time and it was a bit too cold for the swimming stop, which would have probably added to the experience. The rock carvings itself are a good but not spectacular sight, though I was disappointed by their short age (1970s) as I expected something more historical. All in all this trip is really good value for money for anyone interested in sailing Lake Taupo!
Absolutely amazing. We learned so much about the carvings and the lake/volcano itself. The experienced captain got us to the carvings in not ideal conditions but you wouldn’t have known. She was brilliant and it was a smooth journey. The kids were entertained at all times with activities and snacks provided onboard.
A very nice trip, highly recommended!! The captain is very nice, pizza was yummy. Such a beautiful scenarios!!
Great time on the boat, swimming close to the maori rock. Very friendly staff, beautiful cruise.
Great trip, staff on board very attentive and good service! Great value two hour trip. Would recommend to anyone.
You can enjoy a lot the experience with the boat and the beautiful view! Take a time for to do this trip! Tks guys!
The tour excellent and super friendly staff, they gave me a blanket because it was very cold outside!
Great trip, staff were amazing. Tea/coffee and cookies complimentary Nice to learn about the lake and it’s history The carvings are amazing to see Highly recommend
It’s exactly what you pay for, totally worth it.......
A stunning experience. We enjoyed the spectacular scenery and found the commentary fascinating.
This was the second time we have cruised to the Maori carvings on Lake Taupo with Ernest Kemp cruise and it was just as amazing as the first time. The crew are wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable. The boat is just gorgeous and offers shelter from the sun, wind or rain. Would highly recommend using this company.
We enjoyed our trip on the very well maintained Ernest Kemp. It was rough out in the lake and that led to excitement, and wet sneakers for some. The captain manouvered the boat very well and the carvings are stunning.
We did the 10.30 am weather was warm but breeze on boat cold - rug up! It was a very pleasant cruise out to carvings & the skipper got the boat in so close - so everyone on board got a great shot. The crew of Ian & Judy were fantastic- very personal experience.
Great skipper and so informative. Staff were all excellent and so much fun
We had wonderful time on Sail Barbary, it was a perfect trip! Highly recommend it!
What a fabulous way to spend time on such a beautiful Lake. The captain, Kerry, was friendly and overflowing with local knowledge. My husband and I could not recommend this highly enough!!
The trip was memorable with the whole family on board and of course with the amazing staff on board too.
We did the sunset cruise and what an amazing experience it was! David is an experienced skipper and wonderful host. The Moari rock carvings were beautiful and the sunset just gorgeous. Thank you so much for such an unforgettable experience!
Even though the water was a bit rough, the experience was great! Big shout out to the crew, Craig and the Skipper. Got to meet people from different parts of the world which was lovely. Stopped for a swim in this beautiful cozy little spot. So glad we booked ourselves on this 2.5 hour trip. Was definitely worth the money. Memories to take home for sure ??
We travelled from Australia in hope of getting to learn the maori culture. And that we did! The cruise out to the maori rocks was a good start in learning about the area and history of the lake. The captain was very thourough in explaining the different parts of the lake and the first colonys on the lake sides and also his description of the maori rocks. I would definately recommend my friends and family to experience the tour on board the Ernest Kemp. Thouroughly enjoyed by myself and family.
